So I was just wondering how a 3 seed gets put with a 4rth seed and potentially has 3 games but a 5th seed would potentially only have 2 games playing a 2 seed?

|
Because

it`s an uneven amount of teams. The 5th see will most likely lose. The brackets looks fair to me.

because it goes in order #1 gets best seeding a bye!! #2 gets 2nd best seeding vs the lowest seed. #3 gets the next best seeding #4.

I have to agree with the original poster. #4 vs. #5 should be the play in game, with #1 vs. the #4/#5 winner and #2 vs. #3 as the semifinals. Basically #1, #2, and #5 are getting first round byes with the way it is currently set up. It should be #1, #2, and #3, with #4 vs. #5 playing for the right to face #1. The way it is currently set up, #3 is being punished, and #1 isn`t getting the worst possible opponent in it`s first game. Honestly, this is a little screwed up. Not that I truly care, I mean it`s `C` league. No offense intended to any of the teams playing in `C`, but no one is going to lose sleep over it. That being said, the Coach from Last Call has a fair point. Last Call should be playing Gold Rush in the semi`s with WTF facing the Bearcats for the right to play the Warriors in the other semi. Just sayin`.

Think about it like this. When theres an odd number of teams in a seeded single elimination bracket, treat it like theres an even number of teams, making the missing team the last place seed. Then since the missing team doesnt exist you advance #1 and move on. This is simply a method of dealing with having an odd number of teams, not rewarding the first place team. Its also the traditional seeding method for an odd number of teams.

I`m not trying to argue with you man, but it is wrong. Winner of 4/5 should be playing 1 in one semi, and 2 should be playing 3 in the other. 1 should be rewarded with the easiest game, and 4/5 should have the most difficult road.

I see what Josh is saying, but really I think Last Call might have a valid point. If we were really trying to balance it like a normal bracket (NCAA style) then there would have to be 8 teams or a play-in game to get to a 4 team bracket. If there are 8 teams, then the seeding would be:
1. Warriors 2. Goldrush 3. Last Call 4. Bearcats 5. WTF 6. Fake Team 1 7. Fake Team 2 8. Fake Team 3
With this, the top three teams get byes in the first round, 4 plays 5 as a play-in to the 4 team bracket and the winner plays 1 and 2 plays 3. So you see, this ends up being the same as the play-in game option.
In a proper bracket when teams win when they are supposed to, the four team bracket should be 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3. In the current bracket it would 1 vs. 3 and 2 vs. 5...Seems wrong

@HRM, that`s exactly what I was saying man. Josh, not bashing you or anything. I think you do a good job. Just trying to point out how it should be, that`s all.

Yeah just having to play an extra game but being in 3rd place? You would the the last 2 seeds would play that role. But whatever it`s flag football and if have to play 3 for the ship.... . Then shall be it!

Not that it much matters at this point, but Josh you did set up the C bracket incorrectly. Just look at how you set up the A bracket for proof as to why. I`ve never seen a bracket, even one with an odd number of teams, where a higher seeded team had to play more games than a lower seeded team to get the championship game.

I suppose it could have been wrong. I`ll look into it and make sure it`s right going forward. Congrats to the 1 and 2 seeds for making the title game though.
