Rob/Shay/Tom,
Why don`t we play the USFFA and then use the
Virginia Flag 2004 Amendments to those rules
This is what happens in the state tournament.
I notice the Fairfax rules are that way for 2005..Is that true???...
The Virginia State Tournament is played by USFFA rules + VFFA modifications.

We do use the USFFA/VFFA rules with a few minor modifications. The only major difference is in extra points.

What we need is a new statewide rules "cheat sheet". We`ll have one posted for the league here before the season (also emailed to bark Bowl coaches tomorrow).

Also what we need is to have the USFFA/VFFA adopte are extra point rule. That rule was started in Arlington County and we staring using it years ago and then FX picked it up. Ask any ref and they will tell you our extra point rule is much easire and takes out any judgement calls, the only problem is Tom/Rob and I have been trying to get the State to consider it for the last two years

Tom

you DO NOT use the USFFA with VFFA

with MINOR house mods..

Suggest you leave the "cheat sheet off" because the house rules on the IFFL web site are very confusing....NOT the Fairfax web site...

Thanks

There seem to be 3 rulings in particular that have caused some confusion. The rulings in question are:

1) The Last Man Rule

2) The extra point ruling (From Spring IFFL Championship game)

3) Whether you can kick the ball off of the ground.

I have researched all 3 of these incorrect rulings and will post them in the near future before the season starts.

If there are any other rule interpretations for, coaches please email me at batmn8us@yahoo.com and I will answer them as quickly as possible in order to help clarify any questions/concerns you may have. Thanks!!

Rob,

Two of those ruling are INCORRECT??? They were CORRECT rulings!!!!

1) The Last Man Rule NO such thing in the rule book…

Rule 9 Section 3 Art 1….;or if a team repeatedly commits fouls which can be penalized only by halving the distance to its goal line, the Referee MAY enforce any penalty he considers equitable, including the awarding of a score.

THAT IS THE ONLY PLACE IN THE RULE BOOK ABOUT AWARDING A SCORE…

2) The extra point ruling (From Spring IFFL Championship game)

????????? not enough information……….

3) Whether you can kick the ball off of the ground

Rule 2 Section 13 Art 3 Drop Kick is allowed

Rule 2 Section 13 Art 4 Place Kick

A place kick is kicking the ball from a fixed position either on the ground or on a tee. The ball may be held in possession

by any player of the kicking team. If a tee is used, it may not elevate the ball’s lowest point more than two inches above the ground.

Rule 8 Section 4 Art 1

I hope this help clarifies some of the rulings….

Thanks

I got it...but there are amendments to that rule at the state level and our local level.

I will formally post them before the season.

Thanks!

I would like to see clarification on the clock management. It seems like all the refs have different interpretations.

Rob,

One thought play state rules and USSFL rules

that will help teams going to the state.

House rules could be about number needed to start the game and fight rule and extra point rule

and 120 field 15 yard penalty vs 10 yards for 100 yard fields and number of time outs.

Clock is 23 running and last two minutes flag football time keeping.

Thanks
