The referees ended the game with Pain in the redzone after they allowed the game to get out of hand. Truth`s D lineman #94 was called twice in a row for roughing the passer and forearms/hands to the face of the lineman. A shouting match occurred between one Pain O lineman and the Truth`s #94. Two players from Pain`s sideline rushed on the field and Carlton ejected the entire Pain sideline from the game, basically their entire Defense and Kicker. This was despite the fact that the side judge said he only saw the two players rush onto the field. The arguing continued between the Pain sideline and the Refs and the game was called.

Way to flex Carlton! Guess you don`t have to be right if you`re not being paid top dollar. The NFL proved that.

Get a life, losers. It`s flag football. We have the best refs around, period. Go play in another league and you will see how sorry some of the other refs are. Grow up.

I don`t think anyone from Truth got ejected from the game and they certainly didn`t have anyone sit out for our game. I did hear however that Pain was going to be down a few players for their next game. MIller any truth to this?
Also what is the procedure for additional game suspensions, is that completely up to the refs or does that become Tom and Bundy`s decision?
| |
|
Sep 30, 2012 6:22 PM | | ; |
Completely up to the refs, we only follow their recommendations. We had one guy ejected.

simple fact... if you`re out there verbally abusing the refs, they deserve to throw your a$$ out the game. we`ve gotta stop acting like they need to take our **** when yelling at them and going on a verbal attack. If you want to take the actions (right or wrong) and put a decision (right or wrong) in the refs hand to make a decision on you your teams status, so be it.. but don`t get mad when you don`t like the decision.
let`s grow up fellas. this is flag football, we`re adults and the texans are 4-0.
sidenote, i`ll continue to bring donuts to the ref prior to each game to ensure pitbulls are in good standing each week, lol...

The ejections had nothing and I repeat nothing to do with any verbal abuse to the refs, even Bundy would tell you that. Pain`s entire sideline was ejected because two players ran out to the field. The verbal abuse came after the sideline was ejected. The verbal abuse is what got the game called. So get the facts right first homie.

Josh - Since you were there and you follow their recommendations, what is your take on the ejections? and how many people are getting suspended?

|

Carlton and his crew got it right.

whoever is posting anonymously i know what happened per the pain players. you can go highlight whatever you choose with the symantics and techinicalites, etc... but at some point, whether it was before or after the sideline ejections, the officialy was subject to verbal abuse, which is uncalled for.
You felt like you shouldn`t have been ejected because you was on the side line, fine i get it be angry... but he made the decision to toss the whole damn sideline because 2 people came off the sideline to defend there family. They made a decision (that anybody would have made) and the refs made a decision also, deal with it.
Point is, as josh said, `Carlton and his crew got it right`. I will say though, I was glad to see them not let our game get out of control after a few testy plays early on.

So you are honestly trying to say that everyone on Pain`s sideline deserved to be ejected for running onto the field? Even the kicker who was down the sideline practicing kicks?? Come on Josh!
Ejecting everyone is an admission by the refs that they aren`t doing their job right.

I wasn`t there and don`t know what happened, but sounds like a case of Bundy strikes again. How can you have a fair game when the asst commish is on the field? I just find it funny that the refs decided to selectively eject a player from the Truth, but then indiscriminately ejected every player from Pain`s sideline.

the refs got it right the game did get out of hand after the fact they ejected are who sideline and there was only 2 players that left our sideline. do i agree with yeelling at the refs no i dont like cody said we all men and we come out there to have fun and enjoy the game pf football. thats what it all comes down to. one our players does have to sit one game. our refs in this league do a very good job ppl tend to cry for calls and if we just shut up and play and let the refs do what they get paid for we wont have the problems we do.

The refs do the best job they can. They come out every week, deal with all the hot head wanna be NFL flag football players and their constant whining and crying. There are a few bone heads in this league that want to throw elbows and act like goons. Honestly Josh, if you want to keep this league clean and fun, you need to start tossing people out of the league if they are constantly crossing the line. I`m not specifically talking about your team, I`m saying it in general. Every year there are 2-3 players in the entire league that give the league a bad name.
Start taking some action against this type of behavior from adult men in a Sunday morning flag football league.

Certain guys get away with roughing up the Qb and playing above the rules. How many warnings/penalties should a guy get before he is asked to sit out or suspended ? Back in the day , guys were suspened for less infractions. Where is Goodell when you need him ????

Josh does a great job, and puts the league first. There is no question about that. However, almost all teams know that there are a few dirty players in the league. Bottom line, the bad apples need to be kicked out of the league if they can`t clean up their act.

Yes there was a total meltdown by Pain yesterday. Things were getting heated on the offensive line and we lost our cool. One of our players is suspended for 1 game. The refs got the call right, the game was getting completely out of hand, I believe there were 3 personal fouls in a row, then guys coming off the sideline. Carlton, Jerry and Russ do a great job and we need to respect the job they do. It wont happen again.

Question to Miller
Oct 01, 2012 10:29 AM | | ; |
Miller would you agree that this isn`t the first time there have been `issues` with #94 on The Truth, and his lack of playing clean?

Here are the issues: First - #94 from The Truth was using his hands to the face of our OL. Dirty, no...illegal, yes. Carlton and his crew threw the flag on 3 consecutive plays. Issue with my team - keep your head, the refs are making the correct calls. Issue with the refs - maybe he should`ve been ejected after the 2nd flag for the same 15 yard foul. But that`s a judgment call. Like I said, I have no heartburn over it because they were making the correct calls and throwing flags. Second issue: Player ejections My issue with my team - you have to be accountable for your own actions. If you step on the field, you get tossed. 2 of my players did run onto the field to break up the altercation involving their brother. I have no problem with that. If something was going on with my brother, I`d do the same thing. Not to mention, they accepted their ejections, raised their hands when the refs were trying to figure out who ran on the field, etc. But at the same time, this is a team sport. You can`t put yourself before the team. It was a split second decision that was made in the heat of the moment. I`m disappointed but I can`t blame them for something 95% of us would`ve done. Issue with the refs - you can`t throw a blanket ejection on the entire sideline. I don`t think that was the right call. I think the refs should`ve discussed who was on the field and toss them. You shouldn`t punish players who stayed on the sideline adhering to the rules. Lastly – calling the game My issue with my team – that was totally unacceptable. Once again, it was in the heat of the moment and he reacted. He was one of the players who was actually nowhere near the field. He had no idea what was going on until he was informed he was ejected. But under no circumstances, should we verbally attack a ref. He did apologize to the refs. My issue with the refs – None. If you feel the game was getting out of control. Call it.

I have played against #94 from The Truth, twice now. Dude is a beast, probably best defensive lineman I have faced. He is clearly a tackle football player (believe he played D1 ball). He uses his hands like you are taught, swatting arms, swim moves, ripping underneath, exploding through, etc. You know I dont think he intentional is trying to hurt anyone out there, but you have to play with in the rules. If he can get that under control would be a great flag player but the penalties will hurt. I watched The Truth vs Pitbulls game and after he talked to Carlton, I think he was understanding the rules better and I dont know if there were any penalties or not but didnt see any issues out there. Flag is complelely different than tackle and everyone has to go to work the next day.

I feel for Bundy though, he is in a tough spot as a player/coach/commissioner role. He got the correct call with the suspension. He does a good job filling in for Shay. We all know he cant get on here and post his true feelings do to the fact that everyone would destroy him and try and rip him a new one. So when he gives short answers, its completely understandable. I would do the same thing.

Hollywood hit everything on the head (#pause). There`s not wrong with having issue with the decision(s) that were made, but I think we can ALL agree, we`re out there to play football and have good time. .
Donuts for everybody next Sunday.... if you`re still there when Pitbulls play and if Grove hasn`t eaten them all..

I agree Miller, Josh is in a tough spot. However, if there is anyone that knows the rules, it`s Josh. He KNOWS his player was not playing within the rules and was playing a style of flag football that nobody appreciates (especially since Josh basically never plays defense). If anything, as the coach of his team (and commish, which puts an even bigger spotlight on him), he should have pulled his player (#94) from the game. Plus, it`s not the first time there have been issues with #94.

True, Josh does a great job as commish. He has done some very good things (weather updates, fields, etc and I`m sure a TON of stuff behind the scenes). However, this issue is more with a player on his team. You can`t say that Josh doesn`t know the style of play from #94. It is dirty by being illegal when it happens over and over again.

conflict of interest
Oct 01, 2012 11:25 AM | | ; |
bundy being a player/coach/comissioner as miller put it is a conflict of interest. if he is going to be the full time commisioner, he should not be able to put a team in the league. there is just too many variables to that and will cause problems down the road. he does a great job overall i agree but if he wants to be commissioner, he should be the commisioner.

|
Oct 01, 2012 4:38 PM | | ; |
I don`t believe there is a true conflict of interest here, especially if you take a look at what my job as Assistant Commissioner entails, or more importantly, what it doesn`t entail. Here`s what I do in a nutshell:
1. Scheduling
2. Line Fields
3. Communications
4. Accounting
More importantly what I don`t do:
1. Officiate Games
2. Make Decisions on Player Ejections/Suspensions
I think it`s worth discussing WHY I don`t do these things. The first is obvious. I`m not an official, and I`m not qualified to be one. I think almost every week I learn something new about our rules and how they`re applied. Our officials are very well qualified, hell one of our guys was an NFL replacement ref. No, I won`t tell you who, and who cares about what they did in the NFL, but for the IFFL, that`s pretty damn impressive quality. Do I argue calls? Yes, I`m trying to get better about it but I`m human. Do I ever win when I argue calls? LOL! No, never have and I probably never will.
I don`t make decisions on player suspensions because the officials do that. They were at the game, they were in the middle of all the action and understand all the aspects of what happened. To be perfectly frank, I didn`t see half of what happened in the Pain/Truth game because I was too worried about winning and trying to figure our how we were going to score on our next possession. That and I`m guilty of being a ball follower during action and miss a lot of the line play stuff.
After a game that includes an ejection, the head official communicates to me what, if any, additional punishment he feels is warranted and I pass that on to that players coach. If we were in a situation where a player was becoming a problem, then I would most likely pass that on to Tom to discuss, but we`ve never had that issue since I`ve been here and I hope we never do.
As for the Pain/Truth game, Carlton and his crew made the right calls. More than anything it was about maintaining control of the game and the field and I fully back them and would have backed them had they ejected any more players from my team or decided that a suspension for any of my players was in order. No punches were thrown and the only suspension came as a direct result of verbal abuse to an official. That will never be tolerated and will always result in a suspension. Carlton only recommended one game, so that`s what I passed on to Pain`s coach.
At the end of the day, I made it clear at the coach`s meeting over the summer that I intended to continue to play and asked if anyone had an objection. No one did. I don`t believe there`s a CoI here, I know that our official`s integrity is much higher than that and I know that mine is as well. Besides, let`s be honest. My job is really that of a glorified admin, not a true Roger Goodell like commissioner.

I don`t ever get on here, but I thought it was appropriate in this situation. I definitely lost my cool yesterday and I went way over the line talking to Carlton like that. I apologized to him yesterday but will do so again next time I see him because I was still too heated to give him a sincere apology yesterday.
I have been in this league for over 5 years now and however many seasons that entails. I have played under 6 different team names and I don`t consider myself a dirty player by any means. I`m man enough to get on here and identify myself and apologize. I will also be sitting out next week`s game.
As for the incident I think Hollywood "got the call right" and that`s all I will say about that.

Well said, sir. We all loose our cool from time to time, and we all have to pay those consequences when it happens. Fwiw, the call the ref made to eject an innocent Pain sideline was pretty egregious, especially when the two offenders who walked on the field confessed.
