Not enough individuals that stands out to compose two teams of all stars.

standouts, where they do that at lol, I know for a fact that iffl has some of the most talented players in flag, so that`s a bunch of crap saying we don`t have enuff standouts

Honestly

It`s a cool idea, but how would you go about deciding? You`d have to get people to nominate and vote somehow, and I have a feeling that`d be more difficult than you might think.
| |
|
not really
Mar 31, 2010 10:15 AM | | ; |
player/coaches can simply only vote for opposing players, and not their own players, that would keep and accurate count, that way nobody would have any idea who would be going to the big game, until votes are counted, im in!!!
| |
|
I like that idea
Mar 31, 2010 10:31 AM | | ; |
Player/coaches voting for other members. I`m down for it. Just let me know where to sign...

This was done back in the late 90`s. Coaches voted only for opposing players after each game and submitted names to commish. Two all-star teams were made of top vote getters by position. Challenges are likely scheduling of fields/permits, completion of playoffs, etc. This topic seems to come up each year.

I would think this would be a great thing to do, having Va meets md in a every spring rival game, really has nothing to do with indiviual glory, more of a who`s the best Md or Va thing, I`m sure I`m not the only one who thinks so...

Agreed

I understood just fine. I just don`t think an All Star game is going to happen, especially when there`s only 4 teams in MD.

How about this?

Why doesn`t each coach for each team vote 1 player from their team, to be on an all star team?
Example: All Star coach is picked for Team A, All Star coach picked for Team B.
All VA teams are split, so coach for Team A and B ask for 1 player from each team to play in the all star game (by contacting that teams coach). This way, the Team A and B coaches can craft a team of all stars from the 15 or so teams that he has to choose from. Yes, I know that there could potentially be 15 WR`s on a team, but this is where the Team A and B coaches needs to actually do something, and tell a team that he is looking for a particular position.
This way, you really do get 2 teams of all stars to play against each other.

Go Back about a Year on the Board, and See Tom`s response. Go back 2 years and see toms response. 3 years etc etc etc
For the lazy / new folk.
If you want it. You plan it, Shay / Tom don`t have the time to organize it. It falls through every year.
| |
|
well being
Mar 31, 2010 6:28 PM | | ; |
that tom is handling weeknights and shay is handling sundays, it mite not be so impossible to make happen, with enuff ok`s
player/coaches from each team should contact their players and see how many would participate if it was to happen, and let`s make it happen. we can make it what we wanna, if not enjoy the rest of your season people, the mayor is steppin down lol

The problem with it falling through every year isn`t on the Commish. ITS THE PLAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The players that are "selected" don`t end up showing up.
Again Go back and Look at Tom`s responses. Better yet I will bump it up to make it easy for you.

Beautiful thing
Apr 01, 2010 3:49 PM | | ; |
tom has a game already scheduled for A to play C a champ vs. champ game this should be good, small change is better than none at all!!! their will one day be a all-star game!!!
| |
|
Now how does that sound

Even though it won`t happen it`s nice to throw out ideas... Vote for the all stars how ever you want to vote for them (no coach/ player can pick a person on there team)... But the vote is held once we know who is going to battle for the championship...
Just like the NFL used to be... the players from the teams in the superbowl don`t play in the pro bowl.
once you have the all star team picked you ask the players selected if they want to play in the all star game... If they say no you move on to the next highest vote. If they say yes then they are locked in to play.
If a player commits and says yes he will play, then he has to show up to play. If he does not show up to play. You take either the fall season or spring season records, find the team that was the last team to make it in the playoffs. The person who committed to the all star game but didn`t show up will have to sit (fall or next spring which ever record you looked at) the number of losses of that last place team minus 1. With a maximum of 4 games (no person will sit out more than 4 games). And yes the games have to be consecutive from game one to however many they are sitting out.
Example... John gets voted to the all star team. John gets asked if he wants to play. John says yes. Ok he committed.
Now spring of 09 if you lost 4 games you didn`t make it to A playoffs if you lost 3 games you just got in. So, since john, didn`t come to the all star game he will have to sit out 2 games in the spring season.
He is an all star so that hurts his team. Hopefully a player wouldn`t want to intentionally hurt there own team. Second, His team still has a chance as long as they don`t lose 2 more games once john starts playing with them again (assuming the records come out close to the way they were the year before)
As for the actual all star game. Neither team can practice however they can show up the day of the game as early as they want and get practice in then before the game. (this way people who commit can`t say oh but ii can`t make it to practices)
Second the all star game should be played the same day as the championship. Have the all star game at 11am and the championship game at 12:30 or 1:00. This way the all star people can still show up at 9 and practice until 11 or how they want to do it. Also, there will already be a lot of people there for the championship game because the crowd from the all star will stay and watch for a bit.

glad players are acting a little different on this scenario, because im tired of seing other leagues play other leagues except us, let`s have some fun out here. reach out to your team coaches let`s make something happen, even if it`s next season let`s get the ball rolling, we can get a sponsor for a field for one game if players are to busy to give up 5 bucks a piece.

would any of the all-stars be? Everyone thinks they are an all-star on every team. There are only a handful of real all-stars anyway, not enough to comprise two teams.
