Chuck Norris tied the Penetrators 14-14 this weekend in the final seconds. We were going to kick the extra point to tie the game until we realized there was no OT in the regular season. We called a timeout to try and win the game but were told the offense can not use a timeout to change its decision to kick or go for 2. What??!?!? This is ridiculous. This is what timeouts are supposed to be used for. Please reply to this poll so that we can convince our commish to change this rule back to the way it should be. Refs, players and coaches are all in agreement that this rule stinks and makes no sense.

Why this rule was changed I will never know.
Chuck, while I agree with you, you guys have been around long enough to know this rule exists.

I don`t agree

Not being a butt on this one, but that`s one of the reasons they have a coaches meeting before the season starts. Attend them and bring your issues up, and maybe the rule might get changed.

We have used timeouts to change our decision from going for it on 4th down and punting, and we assumed we had the option of doing this after scoring a touchdown. For whatever reason, the Virginia Flag Football Association has declared the decision to kick a PAT or go for the 2 point conversion "irrevocable," unless a penalty alters the original spot of the ball. We should have called the timeout before declaring our intent, and that`s something to file away for next time.

You would not have got the 2 since you should never have scored in the first place and you know what I am talking about.

No 411, we don`t know why we should have never scored when we did. Enlighten us?

I have been told by the refs that in order to change your decision, you can take the penalty and re-declare to go for the 2.

How about I teabag you?
The rules are pretty basic....and if you read the original post, you would understand that Chuck Norris DOES NOT KNOW THE RULES.
This league has not had overtime in the regular season for years.
"Chuck Norris tied the Penetrators 14-14 this weekend in the final seconds. We were going to kick the extra point to tie the game until we realized there was no OT in the regular season."
If they knew the rules, they never would have said they would kick the extra point.
Dang, you dumb.

You want to teabag me? Sorry man, i ain`t into dudes, but if that`s your thing have a good time.
Sorry, we`re not all the plethora of IFFL rulebook knowledge that you apparently are. The dude was just asking a question.

half the league don`t know every detailed rule, so why bash a guy for asking a simple question, but on the other side the rules have been the same that`s what gives this leagues it`s own twist, and will continue on without us if we can`t handle it, so if u loss cuz of it or tied "Let it burn"

You said "We have used timeouts to change our decision from going for it on 4th down and punting, and we assumed we had the option of doing this after scoring a touchdown." That rule was changed as well. You can`t call timeout and switch your decision. The only way to switch your decision is with a penalty.

Dumb rule
Sep 21, 2009 3:25 PM | | ; |
If a team has a timeout to burn, they should be able to change the decision to kick or go for it. Period. A timeout gives the defense more than enough time to change personnel and get a different play called if they so desire.
In this case, CN should have known there was no OT but either way it`s a dumb rule and needs to be changed.

Chuck Norris for not knowing about overtime. That would assume that they have had a shot at winning in the past.

Take a penalty. False start will do it. You can change your mind but will have to take the attempt 5yrds back

nope

obviouslt you dont know the rules either. you cant do that...once you declare XP, or 2pt thats what you gotta go with. so before you come on here tryin to be a smart guy...do a little reading. the rule book will do it..

Here is your solution

Yes I do. Here is the amendment on the VFFL Site.
Page 36 - Rule 8, Section 3, Art. 1 ADD: “For a PAT, teams must choose to go for one point (kick, pass, or run) from the 3- yard line or 2 points (pass or run) from the 10- yard line. When selecting the 1-point option, team must also declare if kicking or going. A team captains first choice is VFFA Amendments: Page: 3 irrevocable and may only be changed if a penalty alters the original “try” spot.
Yes, I do know the rules. You are the one who does not.

The fact that this rule even exist is BEYOND me. In my opinion, this should never even be a rule. In football or in sports, you have the right to use a timeout whenever you so choose. This rule is ******ed and should never even been made a rule. Tom, if you are reading this, you need to change the rule. If a team wants to risk a win or a tie, let them.

Bad rule
Sep 22, 2009 7:23 AM | | ; |
I`m surprised no one had brought this up before. Funny thing is a team that we were playing attempted to draw us offsides on fourth and two. It didn`t work so they called a timeout thinking that they could change their selection. The funny part is that they were forced to go for it and got stopped inside their own 20. What a dumb rule even if it did work out in our favor.

You dummies fail to realize the simple fact....Chuck Norris, a team that has been in this league for several years, should have known that there are no ties in the regular season. Had they had half a brain and knew this, they would never be in the situation.
Stop crying Chuck, and be happy you tied!

They still could have punted the ball, it just wouldn`t have been a non-contested kick anymore.

I did bring this rule up. I was told that the rule was in place to be just like states. That was the end of it. The ref did say go off sides and then change the call
