Stewart:
We have a messageboard policy of directing complaints to the league about the league operation via email (posted at the top).
Most complaints are specific to either a game, a field, a team or an official.
We answer these emails.
I am going to leave this post up so other teams can see it and I will answer several of your concerns the way I would in an email response, but please use email in the future.
"Is it me or do the officials have no idea what they`re doing? In both our first and second game I was told, by the same official no less, that it was his first time and they`re were trying to get the hang of things."
We use a football officials association that has been around a long time. From time to time they bring in football officials who are new to the rules we play by. (In your case there was only 1 official out of the 6 who were there). These officials do go through training in advance. If you have an issue with a specific call this official made please use email and let us know.
"The crew that worked the 8:30 game at Mt. View Field #2 spent ten minutes trying to figure out how long the field was, and then made us play with five yard deep end zones because, "they don`t line the field.""
Mt. View was not re-lined for this past weekends games, due in part to a misunderstanding we had about another league which uses the fields on Saturday (that we expected to line them). We`re very attentive to lining fields week in and week out and we have a field lining schedule. Every single other field was lined Friday or Saturday.
We did not want to use Mt. View this year, but we lost one of our Reston fields (Autumn Wood was designated a flood zone) and Braddock Park was not open to us until 4/16 (Easter). We`ll switch the remaining MV games from field#1 to field#2 (the better field). The other Novice games are at Braddock Park.
