Still a go for tomorrow as of tonight. Please call the rain line 703-861-6339 for an update tomorrow morning before you leave for your games.

The league really needs to update this site as well as the telephone line provided. There were multiple teams who showed up ON TIME for their game only to be told they were not allowed to play on the field. This was an evident lack of coordination and communication and is disrespectful to those people and teams who set the time aside to take this seriously enough to be on time to play. To the person(s) in charge: also take YOUR responsibility seriously!

at 9am the fields seemed to be playable, what was the reason for the cancellation?

Guys, I know it sucks when you get to the field and can not play, but as someone who has played in the IFFL for 13 years, I can assure you Tom, Ron and Shay take this seriously. They are not County employees who get paid to run this league, but just three unpaid guys who give up a LOT of their free time to run a very good league.

Think about how much hassle each of us coaches go through to run our teams. Now imagine having to deal with over 40 teams, the County, the refs, scheduling, the web site (etc...) and you get an idea of what these guys go through.

By no means am I saying you should not bring up issues or ways to improve the league, but lets also remember to appreciate what we got, which is the best run flag league in the state.

I agree w/ Rhinos but I don`t agree they don`t get paid! They Don`t do it for free either!

They do make money off every team every season in this league and other leagues they run and of course the Lazy Sunday`s Coach/player ROB who is also the Commissioner gets paid to play!!! Nobody else does!

If you want the League to be honestly run well! You need a Commissioner or Commissioners that are not players or Captains of any teams! They should be totally independant from any team and have NO STAKE in any Team what so ever, too!

When you have a commssioner/captain/player playing, the referees tend to over look simple rules with this certain team and punish the teams that are playing them at the time! This isn`t right but I know it can`t always be proven!

I don`t want to carry on with this any further! It seems that the County and the Commissioners should work together and decide if games are played or not played at least 1 hour before any game time!

Maybe have the Fairfax County representative giving permission to play or not on any given Sunday, call into the Weather line and state games are on or not, if the commissioners are to busy! That way teams can plan accordingly!

Of course this is my opinion being in this league myself for 10 + years and know how things are with this league and in other leagues! And from past experience, this league is heading down hill shortly just like the NVFFA, if you stop having players/captains as commissioners!!

You are seeing players bailing from there now and coming here! And all the corruption they are having with the high turn arounds in commssioners!!

But if the commissioners separate themselves from any and all teams and are have NO STAKE with the league other than running the league with the players in mind instead of making a quick buck, this league will be the best run league in the State!!! Of course, my opinion!!

I think we should all chip in a couple bucks to buy the comissioners a jeanie from a bottle to make every daym thing we want to come true. oh wait...it doesn`t happen that way! Get over it. Mistakes happen. Yeah we all are inconvenienced, but you know what? Itz life baby. Suck it up and play ball boys!

Can`t wait to get the games back on and thanks Comisshes for puttin up with us.

"I agree w/ Rhinos but I don`t agree they don`t get paid! They Don`t do it for free either!

------------------------------------------------

I think what Rhinos is saying is that this is not our full time jobs. We don`t make a living doing this. The residual we do make once everything is paid for - even conservatively, is a fraction of the value of time and work we put into the league.

"and of course the Lazy Sunday`s Coach/player ROB who is also the Commissioner gets paid to play!!! Nobody else does!"

-----------------------------------------------

Nope, Rob`s team pays.

"If you want the League to be honestly run well! You need a Commissioner or Commissioners that are not players or Captains of any teams! They should be totally independant from any team and have NO STAKE in any Team what so ever, too!"

----------------------------------------------

In the IFFL that would be me. I do not play for, coach or captain any team as of last Fall.

"When you have a commssioner/captain/player playing, the referees tend to over look simple rules with this certain team and punish the teams that are playing them at the time! This isn`t right but I know it can`t always be proven! "

--------------------------------------------

While you have your opinion, I don`t agree with your observation here, and I can point out instances where just the opposite has occured.

"I don`t want to carry on with this any further! It seems that the County and the Commissioners should work together and decide if games are played or not played at least 1 hour before any game time!

Maybe have the Fairfax County representative giving permission to play or not on any given Sunday, call into the Weather line and state games are on or not, if the commissioners are to busy! That way teams can plan accordingly!"

------------------------------------------------

How can they call into our weather line when they don`t even make a decision on the fields. I was not too busy to be out lining the fields at 6:45 Sunday morning. You can ask your coach to send you a copy of the email I sent out - this will clear up a few things.

"Of course this is my opinion being in this league myself for 10 + years and know how things are with this league and in other leagues! And from past experience, this league is heading down hill shortly just like the NVFFA, if you stop having players/captains as commissioners!!

--------------------------------------------

Regardless of what you think, we do run this league with the players in mind and not any particular team or teams. I can assure you of this. We try to improve the league, fields and website little by little every year - but every season, and despite all our precautions, stuff like this (Baron Cameron on Sunday) happens. Its not as cut and dry on Sundays as the County updating a weather line or any of us being "too busy" to find out the status of a field. If any of you want to see the letter we sent to the county and the reply, just ask your coach for a copy.

Normally, we remove league bashing posts, but if your team was affected by the circumstances at BC Park this past Sunday you have every right to be angry about it.

You couldn`t be further from the truth. I also have played in this league for a long time and have seen no favoritism to Rob and his team. I can see how this could be a problem but the commish`s go out of there way to make sure the league is run fairly.

As a general rule, I question the merit of any post that contains 20 or more exclamation points.

Do you really think there is someone out there willing to orgainize this entire league if they have absolutely no interest in the league what so ever. Is there anyone else willing to be out there to take on all the duties the league requires and not have a team to run or root for. If that geek is out there sign up buddy, I`m sure it would take some pressures off of the current organizers. Tom/Rob/Shay, keep doing your thing and it sucks that Fairfax didn`t open the fields yesterday but for now all of your enjoy easter and be ready to return in two weeks.

Tom,

There is no need to entertain the ramblings of one idiot who doesn`t even identify himself. This is the best run league that I have ever played in. Continue to keep up the good work and you will continue to have people bash you, that is just the way it is. I know most of the guys in this league are only mad we didn`t get to play, not mad a you/Shay/Rob. I hope you realize some of us appreciate the B.S. that you put up with.

P.S.

Rob, we all know that the reason that we didn`t play on Sunday is that all of LAZY were out drinking the night before and you had to come up with some reason not to play and the Soccer guy was easy to blame.

Just Screwing Wit Ya!!!

I also want to send a thanks to the league. Not only do they get up earlier than any of us on a Sunday morning, but I noticed somebody from the league (I believe it was Tom) at Hook Road this past sunday taking pictures during the games for the team websites. Thanks for the great pics and you guys do a great job.

When I got to Barron Cameron on Sunday morning, I couldn`t believe they were letting us play on the field. Our field, #7 I believe, was like a marsh. We played four plays and the field was already becoming a mess. I find it amazing that the county didn`t shut the field down immediately. Not that I mind playing in the mud but I`ve seen closings for much field conditions.

I am wondering if the soccer games went on as scheduled though.
