no chance

look at their season. for example: 70-chip 21-14 VA Bulldogs 18-13
really? both very "decisive" victories over teams with one win each! they havnt played any of the top 6 teams in the league until they do you cant say there the team to beat

Ligers apparently were missing key players on both sides of the field versus the Lions, so I`d like to see this match with their full squad.

How do you have a 2 loss team in the top 6?
1.Lions- Although you may say that havent beat any decent teams, they are still undefeated.
2.Havok- Could definitely give the Lions a run for their money if this game goes down.
3.Team Beer- They`ve been winning big against teams they should be winning big against and pulled off some quality wins against decent teams.
4.WTF- Will likely fall out of the top 5 soon. They`ve been squeaking by every game.
5.Grand Hustle- Putting up alot of points, only loss is to the Lions.

Actually I`m not looking at the record, I`m looking at talented and well rounded teams. I think the Lions and Havok are good well rounded teams. I think TNT is pretty good with an explosive offense. As for WTF, Wahoos and Beer, I haven`t seen them play. Like I said, I got respect for all teams and players, but who has GH beat to be in a top 5 or 6?
| |
|
tnt-beer
May 18, 2009 8:09 PM | | ; |
beer was missing its entire line against tnt n played w/ 2 subs...they had wide recievers on their o-line/d-line. that said they got worked pretty bad

You guys are right, we haven`t played anyone to be considered top 5 or 6 in the league. SURE, we played the Lions short half our squad, but they beat us fair and square. Guess we need to focus more and make sure there is no question our next game. But real talk, I think those who continue to question us probably don`t even play this year. Just my opinion..Good game 70 Chip this weekend, you guys didn`t have to play that game and we appreciate and respect you guys for that!

That is cool what you said about your squad and I respect you and your team for that. I`m not gonna question GH`s ability to be contenders because I know they have a lot of talent on their team. I feel the same way about the Bulldogs, regardless of what their record is. I guess it takes some teams longer to gel together than others.

Are the team to beat. They`re are the best in novice. To say that they haven`t played anyone is a weak excuse for losing to them.

Last season we played GH and this season we scrimmaged the Lions. I`m as confused as the rest as to why GH has not been able to get things going before now. They started in arguably the toughest division, MD Open, a couple seasons ago and are just now finding a grove. They are by far the most battle tested team in Novice. The real questions are can they finish the season strong and what happens when they are forced to move back up to B or Open in the Fall.
As for the Lions. I think they are a solid Novice team and winning breads confidence. Winning is fun and it`s easy to smile when you are winning. The real question is what happens when they are forced up to B or Open. That said, look and Collision. They could win their division and actualy have a pretty solid chance to make it to the A playoffs their first season in Open. Will the Lions be like Collision or Team America and fade off into a distant memory.

I dont think any team will be forced up to B or Open. They will earn the chance to move up. And if or when they do I wish them the best as they will be respresenting all C leagues teams. I`m happy Collision is having success with their move up to the Open league.

Actually, Tom usually moves teams up based on their record. Others can move up on their own but some teams will be forced up.

I COULD BE WRONG! But in my opinion anything can happen on any Sunday. So records don`t mean everything. Here is the playoff scenario. Havok vs Lions: Close game but Lions will not be able to keep up with havok TD for TD. Team Beer vs Rude Buddha: Very close game, low scoring. Team beer wins by field goal. Grand Hustle vs TNT: Havn`t seen these teams play but guessing TNT upsets GH. 2nd round: Havok and Team beer smash the winner of TNT vs GH.

GH has got the talent to be good, they have a shifty QB who can run and throw along with some tall/fast wideouts. From what i`ve seen, if they start clickin they can be the team to beat.
The Lions move the ball effectively and control their posessions wisely. Until they drop one, they deserve the respect of #1.
As they all say "Any team can be beaten any given day"

are those really the matchups? if so i think your right.
ive seen havok and their spread offense is hard to beat and team beer hasnt given up a point in 3 weeks. whatever problems they had before against tnt look to be fixed. gh is pretty damn good they should do some damage. i think it comes down havok, gh and beer but i think havok will take it

Not trying to take anything away from team Beer but their last 3 games have been shutouts but c`mon they shut out brass monkeys and redemption (2 worst team in the c league) any team can do that. Shutting out the wahoos was a suprise. The problem they had against TnT was they were missing guys. Im sure if they had their full squad they would have won. With that said my top 5 teams are:
1. Lions 2. Havok 3. WTF 4. Team Beer 5. GH

Havok Half Spread is Not hard to beat! Just focus on the QB`s bright arzz Shoes and get your D-line to spread threw to box him in. That pre-madonna will choke 3 out of 4 throws.

Question what`s the difference between a half spread and a full spread?
| |
|
I think
May 19, 2009 3:15 PM | | ; |
It`s based on the previous seasons record for that league.
Example: Team A is a brand new team. They enter the novice division in the Spring, go undefeated and win the championship. Next spring they will have to move up to Open. Team A is still eligible to enter the novice division in the fall as they have never played in the Fall league.

Wrong. If your record is good enough this Spring, usually 5 or 6 regualr season wins and/or your team wins it all, you will have to move up to either Open or B depending on how Tom sets it up this Fall.
As of right now Lions, Havok and Team Beer will most likely have to move up regardless of how the playoffs go.

If you finish with a .500 or better record you can choose to move up. If you win the C league Championship you automatically have to move up.

I hope there is a MONSOON here during first week of playoffs, I`m in Jamaica and I wanted to play TNT just to see what the talk is about!
Lions deserve the #1 seed in our division, point blank they are beating folks.
As for why we are in Novice, go back to the thread discussing truely novice teams. Tom explains our history in there. Realize most of our team has maybe a half season of playing time together. We are just now starting to gel.

If that the case with teams moving up. Why didn`t Beer move up from last year as they went 5-1. And I believe that playoff scenario is wrong. The top seeded teams won`t face each other to start the playoffs. I could be wrong but based on past it is the 1 vs 8 and 2 vs 7 then so on.

I want
May 19, 2009 3:55 PM | | ; |
to see how a game between Havok and the Lions would turn out. Havok seems to have a potent offense that had put up a lot of points, but may have some questions on defense. Lions have a solid offensive scheme that has been consistent with scoring and a defense that read and adjust to plays well and is challenging to pass but is weak over the middle like most teams. Both apparently have decent QB`s. What would happen...I couldn`t call it. I don`t think it would be a high scoring game though

Wtf is a good team but no way r they top 4 material. Not athletic enough. Lions r solid but no superstars, havok has a good mix of different kinds of talents, Team bear has good d/o line. Haven`t seen GH play.

TNT vs Lions should determine 2 things. If the Lions beat TNT bad then Lions r a quality team and tnt is the team to laugh at this season. If TNT beats the Lions then Lions suck and TNT are okay.
