The IFFL Spring League is 15 years old, and somewhat distinct from the IFFL Fall League or the Bark Bowl, though all of those make up the IFFL.
The Sharks are a weeknight-focused A league team (who`s record or "hardware" speaks for itself) that has only participated in 2 IFFL postseason playoffs: went 6-0, 1-1 five Springs ago, and 6-0-1, 2-1 (final four) last Spring. They also play in IFFL tournaments like the Bark Bowl. They usually play their best ball in the postseason.
DM is the reigning league champ with a better than average chance of repeating based on what I`ve seen. They are only playing in their second IFFL season. Their prior records in other very competitive leagues plus state + national tournament championships also speak for themselves.
The history of the IFFL extends back to 1994. No team has ever won 3 Spring titles (though My Plumber/Blue Iguana came close), while 4 have run the gamut and won twice. No team has won back to back titles since the NOVAs in 1994-1995 (the first 2 seasons).
DMs 20 point win in the championship game last year broke a 14 season streak where the championship was decided by one score or less - in a majority of those games it was 3 points or less.
There are other teams in the league besides DM/Sharks who could also build historic stature by winning it all this Spring: Lazy Sundae (would be first 3-time winner), Rhinos & Wolves (would make them 2-time winners), Dietze Nuts (looking to add to their Fall collection).
