I got this from the County today:
"I received a barrage of email from parents and the lacrosse commissioner about the F-bombs and other foul language being constantly used within earshot of kids at the park. Some parents are very irate about the behavior of the men"
Preserving our field space is more important to us as a league than any one player (or players) self-control. We`re going to instruct officials to assess a 15 yard unsportmanlike penalty for any profanity that they hear, and a game ejection + additional game suspension for a second occurance from the same player.
I can`t stress how important this issue is to us. I know its hard to keep some things in check in the heat of the moment, so every coach and player should make it a point to remind all teammates of this policy early and often.
Thank You,
TOM

The Wolves #27 couldnt stop himself from dropping the F-Bomb throughout the entire game. There is talking trash, which he did his share of (and that`s cool), but to disregard the new "no Foul Language Rule", really disrespected his Team and the League.
The rest of that squad gets props, they seem to have their sportsmanship in check

I was at that game, he didn`t do any cursing on the field..he`s just intense, you are probably on MS and sad you lost by 20 touchdowns. You can talk trash during the game and still be a good sport. I think people on this board need to separate what the difference is between going hard, and being intense on the field and how it`s very different from being a bad sport or disrespectful or even dirty.

LOL

although, when you cheer for your teamates up in the opponents face, it is disrespectful. i can see why #27 should be penalized. it was obvious to me.

Apr 30, 2009 11:53 AM | | ; |
Tom I also brought my familey to my game last Sunday and my wife had to take my kids to the car because of all the cursing please tell the refs to really enforce this rule I know we are men and we let are tempers show on the field but it`s not fair to disrespect the elders that watch the games as well the little kids that we bring to see daddy play football I don`t think I want to bring my kids next week and that`s sad. Thanks tom

what field do you play on? Also, did you remind the refs about their duty to enforce the rule and that they are paid by us? Some refs are good and some a bad.
| |
|
don`t worry about the refs
Apr 30, 2009 12:14 PM | | ; |
we are adults, police your own teams....the refs aren`t there to babysit

Re
Apr 30, 2009 12:22 PM | | ; |
No I didn`t and it was at hook rd my team was not playing at the time so I didn`t want to cause any problems with anyone because they got a 15 yard penatly that can be game changing

Horrible Call
Jun 03, 2009 3:07 PM | | ; |
Nigthawks played Lazy Mondya night at 10pm (no kids around). Nighthawks where up 7-6 with about 1:20 to go. Lazy has the ball at about mid-field and its 3rd and 15. Some of the hawks players where arguing amongst each other and a player from the sideline drops the f-bomb while talking to his teammates. Ref throws the flag and gives Lazy the 1st down. Puts Lazy in range to win the game...BS

I understand its going to take some getting used to. The policy used to be enforced pretty rigidly 10 years ago, and we`ve let it slip more and more each year.
These days though, there is so much competition for field space you never want to give another organization an excuse to complain to the County about you.
Someone just recently tried to point the finger at us for a situation at Marshall HS which had nothing to do with us, but...perception is everything. These policies (such as language enforcement) are intended to benefit the league overall, because really - what`s more important? teams playing on better fields and more turf fields or "your right" to drop an F-bomb when you feel the need, relegating the league to BC#1, BC#2, Mountain View and Hunter Woods?
..and before someone says it, I know the IFFL Spring League has the worst overall group of fields of both Fall and both Spring leagues, but we`re working on it little by little, year by year. Football is not a Spring-primary sport so we`re lucky to have what we do.

Tom,
In case you didn`t know already FFX Co. is turning Green Briar Park into a turf field as we speak. Should be ready by Fall. Just a little FYI.
| |
|
Jun 03, 2009 4:47 PM | | ; |
Yep, its in the field request for Fall and also for Nationals: PT#2, PT#3, Brad#7, GB#5.

Doesnt matter if it`s amongst themselves, keep it cool. That team continues to have a problem with foul language.

re: re: horrible call
Jun 04, 2009 10:00 AM | | ; |
This was the first penalty against "that team" this season for using foul language. Not exactly what I would consider a "team that continues to have a problem with foul language."

|
...
Jun 04, 2009 10:20 AM | | ; |
We had it happen to us 3 games in a row before we got learned our lesson. not cursing on the field but the side line in just general convo. So it has to be a team collective to get it under control.

Wasn`t me that got the foul-mouth penalty. One of my team mates. But we`ve gone 2 games w/o one though.
