Slim pickins this week as there is only one game between teams that should both be playing in the division I playoffs and another game of interest. Looking ahead to next week I see maybe three games of interest.

Lets take a look at this weeks game of the week: Banditos/Rhinos.

Banditos have come out of the gate strong and they look as though their feats in the Fairfax division II last Fall was no fluke. We could be seeing a team on the rise to division I. I said "could" because even though they have improved, they faced an opponent as good as the Rhinos since they were shut out by the Rhinos last year.

The Rhinos also look like they have made some moves to improve the team after a disasterous showing last Fall in Fairfax division I. The defense appears to be as strong as last year but it appears that the offense has not gelled yet. Could this be the week? I think so.

Look for a defensive low scoring game which plays to the Rhinos strenths. Banditos will find the endzone early and might even lead in this game for a while, but will not post any more points. Look for the Rhinos to come out stronger in the second half and find the endzone twice in this game and add a field goal. Final score will be 17-7 Rhinos.

Another game of interest: Vegas Nights/MuddDawgs

I was surprised to see the MuddDawgs hang in there against Going Deep who I expected to win that game comfortably. I still expect Going Deep to win this division but the MuddDawgs should finish third. Apparently the MuddDawgs have made a few key personnel moves. There are reports that Vegas Nights are the Mudcats. If so they look to be very rusty after only managing to beat a new team 14-7, a team that Lazy Sundae then waxed 28-0 so take those reports with a grain of salt.

MuddDawgs had a good regular season last Spring and are a fundamentally sound football team. After tying Going Deep I have moved them up a few notches.

Vegas Nights might be a formerly good team under a new name, but I`m not impressed by their first outing. If a new team can score on them look for the MuddDawgs here to post 3 or 4 scores while holding Vegas Nights to one. Final score will be 24-6 MuddDawgs and that`s the last we`ll hear about the Mudcats this season.

The subject line should read "Games of The Week". My suggestion to the league is to allow people to edit posts and how about allowing HTML in posts?

Collinsworth-

Once again, you give some great analysis. I enjoy reading your columns and the insight that you provide. You make the message bored worth while, keep up the good job! Who were your preseason picks for all the division winners?

Tell JB he should have stated with Fox. Big mistake going to CBS!

You are right on Chris, and games fo the week works, stick with it.

After Rhinos beat Banditos I better not see anyone posting Banditos as a #1 team (please!)

Also don`t forget Vegas Nights barely beat a new team that played with only 7 players for most of the game!

I also don`t want to see the Gators vote themselves number 1 in the poll. How do you vote yourself #1 when you are 0-1????

Yes, Vegas Nights used to be the Mudcats. But to say we are the Mudcats of old would not be fair to all the players who played for them and to Shane who started the Mudcats. Those years with the Mudcats were fun, but we are Vegas Nights now. Yes 6 to 7 of our players are from the Mudcats, but we haven’t played in three years. So it is fair to judge us for this season only. Not because we used to be The Mudcats. I think you will see that we still play with a lot of heart .To Kilroy’s, Mac Daddies , Novas and My Plumbers miss those tough battles. We are ready for new ones. To Chris good column, but 24-6 at least give us the extra point.
