We saw one of your players run into the goal post. Just wanted to make sure that he was ok.

If i slammed into the soccer pole the way he did, I case of beer won`t be enough to cure me.

Yes, he will be ok. He got some stitches in his mouth. Luckily no nerve damage, or concussion. It was a MEAN MEAN hit on the bare metal pole. He will be fine. I think we should get him a Heiny mini Keg.

Tom, I know this doesn`t happen often but when it does it`s major. Has the league ever thought about getting pads for the goalposts?

Aren`t you playing at your own risk? I mean you can`t sue the league if you break your ankle or whatever. How`s that their fault? No one told someone to go out and run into a goal post. How about being aware of your environment?
| |
|
maybe
Oct 09, 2008 8:44 PM | | ; |
they didnt provide a safe playing environment though with 2 f-ing metal poles on the playing field...if your looking for a ball and running into the end zone your done, lights out
they could just add pads, its not complicated

How about

Maybe we should where helmets and pads too, just incase we run into each other.

I agree with getting pads for the posts. I`m sure we dont play on unsafe fields with holes everywhere and other safety hazards. Last time i checked this isn`t contact football (no need for helmets and pads) ass... so players are defenseless when they run into posts that are not padded. So it could`ve been worse and it could`ve been you. Now about actually getting all the posts padded is a finical issue that TOM or Park n Recr have to make.

Would every team be willing to pay more for padding each field. Say, give the refs padding and they put them on at the start of the 1st game of the day? Lets take some responsibility for ourselves here. B!tches.

Sure of its put to a vote to up the league fees to acquire the pads, I don`t think people would really complain so much. True, you should be aware, but damn, on the slight chance that it happens again, someone may not be so lucky has to only get stitches in their mouth, he was fortunate he didn`t split his head open or worse

Insurance

Part of your team fee goes to insurance... If he wants have him get a hold of Tom and file a claim... Unless the insurance that we pay is incase of destruction to the fields...

Goal Post Pads
$160 each. x 4 per field = $640 4 Fields @ $640 ea = $2560 total $1280/36 teams = $71.11 per team, one time cost. Add shipping and make it an even $80 per team.
Take it even further, assuming each team has the minimum 8 players on their roster, that`s only $10 a player. I think most of us could afford that.
Not too bad of an investment in my opinion.

This is

the reason they moved the goal post to the back of the endzones. If you don`t have a good sense of where the goal post are you shouldn`t even be playing football. Kind of like the center fielder that runs through the wall despite the warning track. Good players will climb the wall and make the cacth. Different sports but the same idea.

Holy crap you made me spit soda every where. But in all seriousness, not a bad write up Steve. It was an accident, they are few and far between, but none the less an accident. Is it worth the extra money to put pads on the goal posts for such an isolated incident? I can`t really answer that, but, to err on the side of safety, its something to consider
