Keys for beating United:

1.Rush one and drop 7 because their QB can`t throw (he will throw picks)
2.Double team their 2 main WRs: #7 and #10
*#7 gets open all the time, no single DB can cover him
*#10 is extremely elusive

They have big players but they are soft. Rushers need to contain their QB by not letting him run. He`s not much of a thrower so that`s what you want him to do. Make him throw the ball so your DB`s can make a play. Their WR`s are average but tall except for the short one. The short guy has speed. Their D is pretty soft and will break down. So if something is working for you, continue to do it until they figure out how to stop it.

Diesel: quick team. If possible, jam their receivers at the line. Remember anyone in the backfield is fair game. On options and double passes, as long as they are behind the line, take them out forcing the qb to keep it. The more pressure applied helps. If you give their new qb time, he will cut you up.
Pain: All pkl did was show up. As stated earlier this season, a depleted pain team is an easy pain team. They easily have one of the best defenses in the league but it was obvious last Sunday they were a skeleton crew missing key personell (short corner, octopus armed lb, rushers) and pkl did a good job exploiting it. As for offense, pkl did the opposite, double up`d their husky receiver who you know if you`ve ever played pain is their scorer in the redzone and watch their fast back out of the backfield.
Outlaws: basically sit back and deny the deep ball. Give pressure and force the int. Their qb is not as good as he thinks he is. on offense, chip away at them until the big break comes. Then hit them in the chin.
United: keep your penalties down as their qb is a flopper. Basically a fast team of midgets making their flags hard to pull. They will throw the short stuff and force you to pull flags. Do that and you got em.

To Beating Pain:

Not sure what game(s) you`ve been watching but we`ve scored over 80 points and I`ve only thrown 1 int. (that came this weekend vs PKL). So please make me throw! :-)

Like IFFL Vet said...we`ve always had a problem fielding our team. If we have all of our players, I think we can play with anyone in the league. If we don`t, we`re beatable.

But great game PKL...I can`t wait to play y`all again. It`s always fun and competitive. No dirty plays, good sportsmanship all the way around. Good luck the rest of the season and I hope we see each other again in the playoffs.

Yeah that was a good game and you guys are definitely the best/most athletic team we have played so far. We had some good plays and I think that goaline stand was the biggest turning point.. that just shows how close the game was. thats how we have lost to united in the past on goaline stands. Anyways great game and we look forward to more competition in the playoffs. Have fun putting it to CN this weekend!

How does the qb from United flop? Do they ever go deep? How is there O line and D line?

United`s lin, both O and D, are suspect. The O Line does have relatively good hands but no speed whatsoever. The D line has an initial good push but gets tired easily. I personally haven`t seen the QB flop but I do know that he has a spaghetti arm. Heck the center has a better arm than him.

That was a great stand on the goal line. I can`t believe your LB batted the pass down because the WR was wide open. What hurt the most is 2 plays later...Y`all are in the endzone on a perfectly thrown bomb! 14 point swing right there.

We will try our best to win this weekend, even if I have to pick everyone up and bring them to the game myself. LOL

Since this seems to be B-themed, I`ll put some short points on the only teams that matter:

United - Say what you want, still the best TEAM in the league. Notice `team` in caps. Individually, these guys are dog****. Small, fairly quick (although not lightning fast), and don`t miss flags on defense. Playing them is more annoying than fun; they go short, the QB runs (and flops) a lot for yards, and they run an effective defense that makes you beat them long, which is easier said than done. I disagree with the iffl vet above; rush 3 on these guys and make the QB make a play with his arm. Run the Sharks defense on them; 3 rushers with your best flagpuller roaming the middle of the field to pull the linemen`s flags when he dumps it off to them and your 4 DBs playing press coverage on the WRs. When you press in man-to-man, if your DBs are worth a damn, they will be able to check their man for the first 4 seconds after the ball is snapped, especially if they`re jamming. If your DL is worth a damn, it will be to the QB within 4 seconds. It`s really simple, but most B teams haven`t seemed to figure out how to play with only 5 people in coverage.

Mutiny - Another tough team that you need to beat. They don`t make mistakes, miss flags, or play dumb, but at the same time, they really are not anything special individually. QB has a nice arm, but nothing spectacular. WRs all have great speed but a recurring case of the dropsies. The OL is solid, probably the best part of the team. On defense, they pull flags, but their DBs are below average in coverage. Give your QB time against their 3 man rush and you can beat them on flags and deep posts. The underneath stuff works well over the middle, but they do pull flags well so you will have to have long sustained drives if you go that route. Either way, a big physical team that is one of the 3 best in the division when the WRs are catching balls. They can beat anyone when they are on.

PKL - Interesting team not because they are that great now, but they are the one team in the league that has gotten better every year that I have seen them. The key to beating them is disrupting that odd offense they run where they switch sets a million different times and run some good plays. Switch up blitz packages on him and leave a player in the middle of the field to watch the dumpoffs to the backs and lineman. For as fast as they are, the team is not dynamic at all, nothing they do is going to blow you away, but if you let them, they will get down the field on you. On defense, their weakness is containing the QB. They almost never blitz and when they do, it`s delayed and easily picked up because the guys they do send are not great rushers. Your QB needs to step up in the pocket and make that middle LB make the decision to come to him or stay in coverage. You can pick them apart if you are patient. In a couple years, I predict that this will be the best team out of all of them in B with the exception of Diesel. They have the athletes, they have a good plan, but a disciplined team will beat these guys every time right now.

Outlaws - Of the "elite" teams in the division, I think these guys are the most overrated. They are a huge team with a lot of athleticism but no direction. Their offense is something that someone with a Pop Warner coaching background put together. One play does not set up the next, the QB tries to force the ball when the play is not there, and their WRs drop more balls than Mutiny`s (which is saying a lot). Put pressure on these guys with a blitz, which Andy Reid will respond by putting a guy in the backfield to block (wasting a WR because their lineman can`t catch) and you have them. Defensively, they have improved over the last 2 years. Still, they get beaten by the littlest things. Release your lineman every now and again for 6-7 yard passes and they will change up their whole defensive scheme to stop it. When they do that, beat them up top with a big play. They have talked themselves up a lot on this board, but don`t believe the hype. These guys are pretenders.

Pain - Basically copy and paste what I said about Mutiny here, except the QB is quicker and Pain does not pull flags as well. Big team, tons of athletes, and very physical. I actually disagree again with mostly everything the poster above said. They are a tough team and when everyone shows up, they present a lot of matchup problems all over the field. Also, the QB`s strength is running, but you don`t want to force him to pass because he is at his best when he has time to make decisions. Get a strong rush on him on every play and make him make a quick throw. When I have seen him, he looks like he needs to see the receiver open for at least a couple seconds before he throws the ball. He cannot throw to a spot and is not the most accurate guy in the world. Again, pressure pressure pressure. Their OL is probably the second best in the league behind Mutiny`s, but are not particularly quick so send your speed guys as opposed to your bullrushers at them. The WRs are actually a slow group besides the shifty little dude, who will kill you much like the little guy on BadBoyz if you don`t chuck him at the line. These guys only seem to beat you when the play has broken down and the QB starts scrambling. On defense, they are steady. They miss flags and give up big plays, but you will have a lot of trouble beating them with a short game if that is your thing. The thing to do against them is have 3 guys block on every play to neutralize their rush and try to get separation from the slot. Their corners are two of the best in B league (the QB and the little guy), so taking your chances on them is probably not your best bet. Very tough to move the ball if your QB cannot either run or go deep. Their biggest weakness, which has been talked about on here a lot, is the lack of commitment by the team. Every time I`ve seen them it`s like a different group of guys, and they never have more than 9 or 10 people total. If you get them when a couple of their key guys don`t show up, you can almost guarantee yourself of a win. If they all show up, be ready.

Diesel - Right now, unquestionably the best team in B league (and maybe a top 5 team in A league). For those of you who have been in the league for a couple years but have not seen them, they basically run the same offense as the Wolves except their QB is better and they have 2 other legit double pass threats at WR. They run a lot of misdirection and timing routes, so if you don`t jam their WRs, you`re done. Whoever is calling the offense for them actually knows flag football, because it seems that every play they run is setting up the next one. People on here give advice on how to stop them like it is so easy, but until I see someone do it, I call BS on everythign you read on here. To slow them down, you need to jam the WRs at the line. They are all little guys so you really should be able to slow them down initially and hope that your rushers can cause enough problems in the backfield that you won`t get beat on the seam routes they love to run over the middle. With this team, you need to hope for a drop or two or the QB holding onto the ball a little too long and getting a sack or penalty. They are just tough to stop. On defense, they are incredibly quick. They run man on the outsides and have a couple LBs switching up the rush and patrolling the middle of the field. They are frustrating because you might complete a couple passes on them but they make the little adjustments and seem to shut those areas of the field off. Use your linemen and make sure your QB runs every once in a while to keep them honest. The good news about them is that their pass rush is mediocre, with one fat guy basically bull rushing and a few small quick guys who can be pushed outside. Make sure your QB uses the pocket. In terms of beating them, it`s going to be tough right now, they are so different than everyone else and it helps to have the best QB in IFFL. I think it will take a bad game out of them to lose in the B league the rest of this season.

The rest of the teams, I`m sorry to say, are not going to be factors this season. Sure, a PS or someone might make a small run, but they are not ready for the championship just yet. The teams above, at full strength, are the best in the division.

I agree with your assesment of Diesel. However, I dont beleive their receivers area all that small. They have one big guy playing slot and they move him all over the field like T.O. when the ball is not going to him they use him as a good decoy. The rest of the wr are pretty good very shifty and can get open and make people miss flags in open field. I saw the second half of the Outlaws game and they constatly jamed the slot wideouts, but they got off the jam well. I beleive you have to switch the defense up on them constatly, never let them get comfortable and pray for a turn over and a couple of sacks.

They alwyas adjust on defense to the team that they are playing.

What about....

Oct 02, 2008

I agree, the WRs are not that small compared to other teams, the point I was trying to get across is that they are not hard to jam.

PS doesn`t get a scouting report until I get to see them play a team that is organized. I give them credit for their effort so far this year (you play who is on your schedule), but I saw them play the Nighthawks, who are arguably one of the 3 worst teams in the league and not move the ball on them. I fully expect them to lose their next 2 games, but I will give them respect if they can make both of them competitive.

Arsenals gets no writeup because they are a one-trick pony. Shut down the taller WR and you can beat them.

My question for the group is, who is better than the Diesel QB? I agree that the Wolves QB is a beast, but isn`t the Diesel guy basically a carbon copy but with a much stronger arm (you never see the Diesel guy go on top). The Rhinos QB is not even close, I`m not entertaining that suggestion. BadBoyz QB is good, but if he`s contained and not using his legs he becomes just all right. Who else?
