What is the purpose in having the anonymous ID? This message board is poluted with losers here just to insult people/teams because they know they won`t be accountable for their statements. Tom please end this senseless behavior, it`s making the league look bad.

I have read some of the threads and it`s a bit ridiculous. My vote would be to get rid of the non-sense.

Login, if you`d like to comment. Do your talking on the field... This should be a good time for everyone!

Peace to everyone,

Jake

who really cares? It`s mostly entertaining. It`s easy to separate legit comments from ones that are obviously nonsense. The messageboards would pretty much die if everyone had to login.

the boards have been saturated with trash. if i was new to the league and read all the bashing on the boards i would probably think twice about joining. its making the league look bad with all the anonymous bashing and vulgar languages.

you should be able to log in with your email. your team name should be under your log in ID.

hook it up tom!

Most comments from players who are not logged in are fine. I periodically go through the posts and delete the ones which invoke racism, threats or over the top personal attacks.

Logged in players have the ability to vote to strike a post. Once it gets 5 strikes it`s deleted automatically (you will see this option if logged in and viewing the board).

How do you log in? If you are on a roster in this league, click the send password link on the homepage. If you do not already have a password, it will create one and email it to you. Then use your email and the password to login.

If you don`t like it, don`t read it. Nobody makes you come to the message board anyways. From being in this league for over 5 years now, it is mostly the bad players/teams that are on here posting nonsense. You rarely read any non football related posts from the quality teams in A or B. I will say I have noticed it has gotten a lot worse lately, so I rarely read it.

Not sure why??

By the time 5 logged in users (who probably care about the league) elects to delete a comment, the same anonymous users (who are just here to attacks others) will just type some more BS. Maybe the strike option should be availible to all?

...or maybe I can just give coaches and asst coaches the ability to register 4 strikes, so all it would take is one additional person to delete?

One more thing: in general, and historically, I am against most forms of censorship. I`m not afraid to leave (and respond to) legit criticism of the league on the board, and some trash talking and calling out is okay and goes along with the territory. I do agree that things get out of hand on this board a times, but I would rather let the community at-large determine the grey areas.

Censorship

Sep 23, 2008

is one thing; ignorance is another. Coaches of teams have to police this messageboard for instances where people are "posing" as members of their teams. As coaches, we have to log on using our registered name just to try to clear our names! It`s annoying and childish.

As a coach and a poster of this site, I would definitely like to see this board as a controlled site with only registered users.

Another thing

deleting threads is fine, but why not kill the cancers who are trying to start S_ _ t on this site!

Start blocking IP addresses of those individuals!

So if the community as whole decides they would rather have a log-in only board, what are the chances of that happening?

If you don`t stop it

It will only get worse plus it`s not really censorship. Everyone can still say anything they would wish to, however everyone will know who that person is.

IP addresses should be blocked and employers notified of people posting threatening violence, or writing racist garbage.

just don`t pay attention to these people sometimes you have to be the bigger person, as long as they don`t call you racist name on the field you ok this is america racism goes on everyday but you have to deal with it and move:: PLAY FOOTBALL GUYS THATS ALL YOU ARE HERE TO DO IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT PLAY...

Get rid of it

Exactly, guys are here to play football. Not to be harrassed, impersonated, and insulted on the message board. Everyone is at the games but instead cowards would rather run home and bash you anonymously. I bet you no one said anything to CN 18 about picking up their trash at the game this weekend, but go back and read the message board.

Here`s the compromise:

Any logged in player can strike a post with one click. To non-logged in people the post will not exist, however logged in reader will see a small note in a thread where a message has been deleted. If they choose, they can click the link to see what was deleted. If that logged-in player wants to restore the post, they can do so with a restore click, but someone else logged in can always come along and delete it again.

RE: Get rid of it

EXACTLY!! I guarantee you no one said anything to him about picking up trash. The coward probably waited until after he left to leave some trash. I thought the post was an excellent post just reminding you that we share the fields. I think at times we all may have left trash unintentionally. That post actually had me picking up trash on my team`s side of the field after my game last Sunday reminding me that the kids are using the fields after we are done.

And on another note, I used to be an opponent against having to sign on, but with these immature individuals it has to be mandated. I couldn`t agree more with the other poster that stated for new teams or new players wanting to enter the league and see this garbage it would deter them from wanting to join this league.

Leave it, people can say what they want to say...no one holds a gun to anyone`s head and makes them click a post. This board is driven by anonymous posters, they stir things up and say what they wouldn`t say if logged in. Not to mention, I`ve only seen 20 or so posters logged in this year. However, the compromise is a good one.

Tom, is the restore functionality not in place yet? I tried deleting a post and then went back to restore it and don`t see a way to do so.

I tried deleting a post and then went back to restore it and don`t see a way to do so. a person who deletes a post cannot restore it - someone else would have to do that. Each logged in player can only take one action (delete or restore) on any single post, period.

Aside from that, the restore function was not working - it is now.
