We all know that there is not really a grace period anymore for a team to field enough players to play. However, in a game at Hook Road, one of the teams literally had players parking there car as the coin toss was about the happen...one minute past game time. They would have had their team together prior to the kick off. Yet, the refs cancelled the game and the one team forfeited. Both teams were ready and wanting to play. I think the refs need to be a little more reasonable and let us play the game. That`s why we wake up every Sunday morning. Tom, what`s the deal with these refs?

We all have jobs that require us to be on time. How hard is it to get your ass out of bed and get there on time. Are you late to work?

come on

If you`re one minute late to work, your boss doesn`t send you home for the day. if he does, then you got an unreasonable boss on your hands. i think the person who posted is simply asking for reasonable-ness and not trying to make an excuse. i agree with what he wrote. if the team was pulling up and would have been ready at kickoff, then the refs should have allowed play to continue. it`s common sense and playing football is what we`re about

There should be some sort of grace, the refs seem to be real quick to call games so they can hit MacDonalds.

hmm

still should of been there on time
if the other team can field on time, then you should too

Worst Refs EVER

It`s bad enough that this league doesn’t let anyone play real football (no blocking down field or on the kickoff, if you touch any part of the other player when going for his flag its holding...etc) but these damn refs are so F`ing quick to throw that damn flag. 90% of these ref`s got beat up in HS and now they`re on a power trip. LET US PLAY THE DAMN GAME, the ref situation needs to be addressed quick. Anyone who`s had that dumb ass mexican ref knows what I`m talking about.

The decision whether to forfeit the game should be made by the team that would win the forfeit. If they would rather take the forfeit than play, they should have that option. The refs should be made to officiate the game as long as they`re getting paid.

Look guys, it doesn`t do any good to sit here and ***** to Rob about it on the messageboard.
The coaches have the ability to change the rules after the season is over. Its too late to do anything this year, but for next year, your coach needs to ask for a rule change, and with enough support, you`ll get it.
I think a reasonable rule would be that the team who would win due to the forfeit gets to choose - if they want a forfeit win at game time, they get it. Or, they could choose to have the refs just start the game clock, and you start playing when the other team gets their minimum number of players.
That way the teams with the later games don`t have to be delayed because some sorry bastard couldn`t get out of bed early enough, and you also don`t have 20 guys standing around wanting to play football at 9:02, but with refs refusing to officiate.

you girls are quick to blame the refs for every little thing you hoes do wrong. First, get your ***** ass up in the morning and make it to the game on time. Second, come up with a solution instead of complaining about a problem that YOU have. Here are some solutions, car pool, call everyone on your team and ensure they make it on time. Don`t blame the refs, THEY`RE THERE. Another thing, you seem to make racial remarks about refs and players, you should stop that will get you in trouble, legally and street wise. I`ve never seen a mexican referee, but you`re probably one of the suckest players on the field(worst refs ever comment). If you don`t know the background ask and if you post something about the refs let them know about, I bet anyone you won`t, you`ll get the **** slapped out of you. You cry and complain about the game but, when you`re on the field YOU SUCK. THAT GOES FOR VA`S FINEST, BIG PIMPIN (THE QB, HE TALKS TO MUCH) and the other teams with the most LOSES. I come to play football, this is flag not NFL. Stop being *****es and play the game. One more thing, if you were playing football, you wouldn`t have to worry about the refs.

This seems to be a whole lot of griping for a foreit on a 10:00 AM game. Grace period for an 8:00 AM game maybe, but 10:00 AM???

Well said by FC No. 8 visitor - the team who would win due to the forfeit gets to choose - if they want a forfeit win at game time, they get it. Or, they could choose to have the refs just start the game clock, and you start playing when the other team gets their minimum number of players.

It shouldn`t put any pressure on anyone. Teams should want to play football. My team has people coming from all over. Some, quite a distance. Should everyone be punished if a few folks can`t get there on time? If we come out for a game and don`t get to play, we feel cheated. If you`re one of those teams that just wants a win at any cost, you shouldn`t feel any pressure. That`s what your getting.

There shouldn`t be a grace period. Everyone knows the schedule, get your azz up.
Even if you give them a 15 minutes grace period, they`re going to come here *****ing about how they were only 17 minutes late and the refs wouldn`t let them play.
Secondly, how do you know they`re even going to field a team that day. I`m already pissed they`re late, don`t want to wait around for another 15-20 minutes.

First of all, if you`re having trouble getting six players to the field on time, you may want to add a few more players. My team has never had that problem because we have more than enough guys. But if we get out there and the other team has players "on the way", we want to play. That`s what we pay for. Again if there are teams that would rather take the forfeit, let them. They shouldn`t be made to wait. It`s a simple solution.
