We`ll open registration for the Fall league on Monday June 30th. Last year we closed up (hit the max # of teams) by early August.
If your team really wants to participate, don`t wait until two weeks before the season starts, that doesn`t work anymore.
We expect the season to begin Sunday Sept. 7, or possibly Aug. 24th (depends on our permits).
Regular season play will run through Sept. and Oct. with playoffs in Nov.
As some of you are already aware, we are hosting the State Tournament up here in Fairfax County this year. In an effort to better prepare our teams for the competition, Rob and I have agreed to struture the Fall Sunday league with A, B and C divisions, as we do with the weeknight league.
The top teams will play in A, the moved up Novice teams (top 4 by winning % over .500) and the mid to lower Open teams will play in B, and C will be for the mid to lower Novice teams and new teams.
I expect the B division to be larger than both the A and C, but we`ll manage.

What about the case of CN, WP and QH where they all have the same winning percentage? Does it go to AvPD then or playoff finish?

Last Fall:
1 Hokies (2-1) 6-1 .857 (moved up) 2 The Penetrators (1-1) 5-2 .714 (moved up) 3 N.T.A.C. (3-0) 4-3 .571 (moved up) 4 Chuck Norris (0-1) 3-4 .428 (stayed in Novice) 5 Wolf Pack (1-1) 3-4 .428 (stayed in Novice)
Only moved up 3, because the rest had records of .500 or under.
This Spring:
1 Team America (will move up to B this Fall) 2 Midgets (will move up to B this Fall) 3 Quality Hibachi .714 (will move up to B this Fall - made final four) 4 Wolf Pack .714 (option to move up or stay back) 5 Chuck Norris .714 (will move up to B this Fall - league runner-up) 6 Team Cactus .571 (option to move up or stay back)

How about first time teams that were in A and had a rude awakening? Do they drop to B or C? Or does this depend on their record?

you are a class act,
of course you would think ALL teams who move up should win more then zero games. sometimes it doesnt work that way, give some time to adapt to the different caliber

Maryland Division

Tom: I am just curious as to how the Maryland Division will play into this structure?
| |
|
Question
Jun 19, 2008 4:26 PM | | ; |
Will this structure remain for spring 09?
| |
|

will the league determine classification in A/B or will that be up to the teams?
A little of both - we`ll try and break the divisions down in a way that facilitates scheduling. Some teams may be on the bubble either way.
What about the case of CN, WP and QH where they all have the same winning percentage? Does it go to AvPD then or playoff finish?
We use postseason performance.
How about first time teams that were in A and had a rude awakening?
A few Open (not "A") teams will have the option to play in "C" vs "B": I of the Liger - and the new Open teams that lost in the first round of "B".
I am just curious as to how the Maryland Division will play into this structure?
Goal there is to have both an "A" and "B" division.
Will this structure remain for spring 09?
We`ll probably stick with Open and Novice for the Spring seasons.

How much will the inital registration fee be?

Does the "B" champion automatically make "A" for fall?
| |
|
Jun 24, 2008 10:46 AM | | ; |
How much will the inital registration fee be?
Team fee will be the same as last Fall ($840 & everyone makes postseason), but deposit will be $240/team - then 2 more payments: after week 1, and then before week 5.
Does the "B" champion automatically make "A" for fall?
Depends. Titans and United are weeknight teams, Off in the Shower (NTAC) and Mutiny are Sunday teams. If the B Champ is moved up to A for the Fall, it does not mean they have to play in the A State Tournament - I would expect them to play (and do very well) in the B tournament.

How will the playoff seeding work for B then? I assume the same as A and C did this spring since you won`t be separating A and B from one division?

Correct. Assuming 16 teams in B, 1-16, 2-15, 3-14....

can a new team play in the open league A or B in the Fall
Although I always advise new teams to start out in C, any team can play in B, restrictions/approval apply to A & C.
