I think it`d be nice to commend players on various teams across the C League for their outstanding play, no bashing on anyones nominations, let`s keep this forum topic serious. Base your nominations on the individual, regardless of team record and playoff standings.
Please keep your nominations to 3 per category, random order if need be.
Best QB:
Best WR:
Best O-Lineman:
Best D-Lineman:
Best Linebacker:
Best Cornerback:
Best Safety:
Best Kicker:
Great Job to everyone this year in C-League.

An all-star game would be cool. Even if it`s a scrimmage or whatever. It would be hard to organize as far as voting and splitting the 2 teams up though.

Wouldn`t be too hard. Losing semi-finals coaches are the all-star coaches. Let each coach nominate 1 guy from each position and have online voting for it. Then let the all-star coaches pick their team.
The hard part would be getting the field and getting people to vote.

Centers
Jun 09, 2008 3:51 PM | | ; |
QH - Center is the number one receiver. He can get out for a pass. Not that great a blocking though but he`s the reason they win games.
CN - Center isn`t all that great. Imagine the Pillsbury Dough Boy with a gold jersey on.
PS - I think they have two centers. One is a smaller guy. Not that great. Can`t get out for a pass. When it does come his way, nothing comes out of it. Their second one is like QH`s. A center/receiver type guy. Only seen him play against CN. He got one catch. I think it would be a smarter idea to use him.
TA - Not much about him. Bigger guy with wobbly legs. You won`t see him catching much.
Out of all four teams, the best center would definitely have to be QH`s.

This is a great idea. We just need a way of voting for all this, I say we vote for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd string for either all-star team because their are lots of good athletes on all teams. Im with Bundy on the coaches and let the two of them talk to Tom and get this organized, then we vote.

There can only be 1st and 2nd string. With 2 teams, thats 32 players total. 16 on each team.
Any more than that and there would be playing time issues etc. Plus I think it would be hard to get 32 guys to actually show up to this thing. Unless we got a sponsor and had some kind of prize for the winner.
To tally up (kind of) the votes so far...this is how it would look. Make corrections/suggestions as you wish.
QB: Team America, Midgets, Cactus, Hibachi

It would be awesome if we could get the coaches and even 1 team captain from each squad to vote.
QB: Team America (Tom Brady-like) Midgets (Ben Roethlisberger) Cactus (Mike Vick)
WR: DFA (Just Like his Icon, Chris Cooley) #5 Psquad (Keyshawn Johnson from the Bucs) #83 Midgets (Chad Johnson) #23 Cactus (Steve Smith) #2 Chuck (Shorter Bigger Version of Wes Welker)
O-Line: #32 Psquad #80 Cactus #77 Midgets #21 Chuck Norris #55 Wolfpack (But he is their RB that peels off) D-Line: Fireman (Chuck Norris) #99 Psquad #2 Chuck #10 WTF #3 Midgets (he`s also their Center AND Kicker)
Center: #26 Hibachi #55 Chuck Roudie Bunch`s Center
Secondary: #1 Midgets (I think the only team that runs 1 safety, saw him vs CN&Psquad, don`t remember seeing a deep ball at all) #2 Chuck (Strong Safety, if he was taller he would be even more sick) #23 Cactus (Always in the play, great vision) #22 Hibachi (Speed in the Secondary with this one)
Linebackers: Not Sure
Kicker: Midgets, Chuck Norris, Team America

Nah, thats not it. Hasn`t anyone realized yet it doesn`t take stars to win, it takes a team? That`s what teams like Team America, Chuck Norris and QH have done all year. Put a team on the field and won with team effort. Sure, every team has stand out players, some more than others, but they don`t mean jack if you can`t play as a unit.

You guys crack me up. I have to admit this has been good reading. While I am disapointed that we couldn`t pull it out Sunday and compete for the championship, I am proud of the way our team competed and improved durring the season. Will we move to Open in the Fall? Maybe. We`ll see. It looks like there might be 3 divisions for the Fall Sunday league; A,B, C. I can garentee one thing though, what ever division we are in we`ll have a chip on our shoulder and be ready to play each week. I think if Tom Created a online ballot? similar to how we can make polls and vote, and each page on the ballot have i.e.
Page 1: QB`s
The Coaches would each need to list their Player # with position for Tom so it would it would work, and then we`d have to vote for the top players:
I think the positions should be:
QB - WR - O Line - D Line - LineBackers - Secondary - Kicker

Jun 11, 2008 3:07 PM | | ; |
because it was their second game... They are good but they arent a deep team, and they dont have stamina. They probably didnt need to drop 41 on the prowlers in the first round, and they should of held back a little bit to save energy for their second game. Earlier in the year when they played the second of a double header they tied Roudie, who is not a very good team at all.

what i was saying is, CN, you guys will be fine, PS is not any better than before they have a lot of players so playing the 2nd game of the day played to their advantage. Watch #5 he can catch it and hes fast.

I saw the midgets/p-squad game and it looked like midgets had more players on their bench. But its kinda hard to keep anyone fresh when the weather is burning hot at 90+ degrees.
PS new qb doesnt have the arm like the original but he moved the ball well enough to get them the win.

To "to hmm" I dont care if my name/number was not picked for a all-star team. I could care less about that. You took offense to what I said so Im guessing you play for the Midgets. Its ok man have fun at the pool on sunday morning while me and my team are out playing for a ship.

don`t you want someone that can actually get the ball to you, I thought this was allstars thread, not who has the best noodle arm??? might as well elect desktops QB too!

I meant #81 Prowlers but said Psquad. Psquads 81 may be good but I haven`t seen too much of him. #81 Prowlers is like their only threat. He gets my vote.

to the guy talking about the PS/Midgets game; you do realize PS played a double header too right? And like mentioned, Midgets came out deeper than they`ve had all season long. They had a whole tent full of people this past Sunday while past weeks they only had like 10 or 11 players.
| |
|
Jun 11, 2008 7:07 PM | | ; |
PS will use 2 or 3 QB`s. Their arms aren`t as strong and they are not as quick as the first one. But if your CB`s get sucked up they can put it over their heads. If they stay at home they should get picks. They look for #5 on the goal line. Against us they focused on taking the deep ball away from our O b/c that`s how we beat them in our first game.
We didn`t loose the game b/c we had a double header or we didn`t have as many players as they did. We were unable to close out the game. We stopped them on the goal line and blocked their FG attemp in the first half. We came out in the second half and marched down the field for a TD. Then they had a big catch and run by 27. Still not sure how that happened. 7-7 We had a chance to win the game around the 2 min mark but, were unable to put together a game clinching drive. They had a chance to win in regulation and almost pulled it out. In OT they were able to get the ball close the goal line and then threw it up to 5 and he came down with it. We weren`t able to put points on the board in OT. That`s pretty much how it went. They made the plays when it counted and we couldn`t take advantage of the one`s (2 INTs, blocked FG) we made. We played our asses off but came up a little short. It sucks but, it is what it is.

The "almost" TD was called back. Side ref said TD, Midgets said no. Side ref then changed his mind.

that "almost" td was a legit flag pull before the goal line. i made it about a yard in front of the end zone. there are pics online of him stepping over the line without a flag on his right hip if you want proof.
but psquad played well, especially defensively. they had practically no defensive breakdowns and controlled the second half with that spread O. i wouldn`t be surprised if they sprung another upset. they are a very talented, athletic team.
but that side ref made the right call there. the pics don`t lie, and neither would i.

Since we don`t know if this game can even happen, why not just take the C league All-Stars and have them play the open team at the end of the season that is already scheduled.

If that happened the all stars would not have any chemistry against and Open team that has played years together or the whole season. That would give them a big advantage for them. I don`t know about that one?

It should be a C All-Star game, not a C All-Stars vs. an A team.
The C All-Stars will have never played together and will have all new plays to learn. You gotta figure the most practice they will have is maybe 1 meeting or something before the game...and thats if we can even organize it enough to get to that point.
Next week after the champ is crowned, we can try to get this thing setup, either with Tom or we`ll have to organize it ourselves as a pick-up game. Refs and a timekeeper would be a must though. Maybe some C coaches would volunteer to ref?

I agree with C Commish....it would be a serious kinda rough to challenge an already establish A team...although winning would be sweet it would be very difficult.

What if we just had pick-up games through out the summer? This All-Star stuff is getting way too complicated and it will be a nightmare trying to figure out the logistics. I say we just try and organize some pick-up games so everyone can play some ball in the off season and we are not restricted to one game.

Jun 12, 2008 1:25 PM | | ; |
I`m down with that. Just get everyone nominated in this thread to come to a designated field at a certain time/date, get 2 captains and go from there. Old school pick-up style, but with rules and flags etc. Guess we`d have to officiate our own games like pick-up basketball.
An actual all-star game would be cool too though, if we could get Tom or someone to help us figure it out.

I agree, but one I think its obvious that coming to a general consensus on these boards is difficult - on even one topic. But now we want to field virtually two all-star teams with 2-3 people per position? That would take years to decide on, and its not like everyone is working with perfect information here either. So I say skip all that and lets do what everyone signed up for and jus tplay ball. I think its nice to nominate people for being all-stars, but actually deciding who plays and who doesn`t is going to be 1) a popularity contest; and 2) impossible.
So... pick-ups sounds like a better route to me. We pick a location and a time every week and play. Simple.

why don`t you set up scrimmages with your real team during the summer so you can get better as a unit, thats what matters in this league, not playing with random people
| |
|
duh
Jun 12, 2008 2:14 PM | | ; |
ummm yeah we know that buddy. this would be in addition to team activities...

I agree that playing as a unit would help your team, but as already mentioned, this would be ontop of team activity. Also, its the summer and people are busy so organizing a scrimmage may be difficult on a regular basis. What I am proposing is playing every week at the same time/place for a pick-up game/s. The only difficulty I see would be securing a field, because I am not sure what the rules are about playing on the fields outside of our league. I know our team got kicked off some fields a couple of times during scrimmages/practices.

Voting
Jun 13, 2008 12:07 PM | | ; |
I`ve seen every squad play atleast one game this season. I think it would be great if the coaches could get together and vote. (Random Order)
Best QB: Team America, teams undefeated, and he`s the main reason. Midgets, he can throw a td from anywhere on the field. Team Cactus, single handedly won games, and put his team on his back.
Best WR: DFA, Chuck Norrs: The go to guy, once he starts getting catches, the whole team takes it to another level. #5 Practice Squad: Read note above for DFA, same height more speed, but he`s a true WR, DFA is more TE body. #23 Cactus: Real Speed on the outside, Cactus QB throws it up, and he just makes play after play. #83 Midgets: Tall but not huge to overpower at the line, but he is one of the fastest in all of C, and runs his routes to perfection. #55 Wolfpack: Real speed, used out of the backfield, but has plenty of speed and plenty of moves.
O Line: #80 Cactus, #77 Midgets, #32 Psquad, #26 Hibachi
D Line: Fireman (Chuck Norris), #3 Midgets, #10 WTF, #99 Psquad
Linebackers: Not Sure, way too many of them.
Secondary: #2 Chuck Norris: Short safety, but has a ton of speed and has good instincts. #1 Midgets: They only run one safety, as they should, heart and soul of their D, size, speed, makes plays. #22 Hibachi: Great speed to stick with his man. #21 Psquad: Great coverage corner with speed.
Kickers: #3 Midgets, DFA, Team America

The reason TA hardly had any all-stars, was because they didn`t have anyone voting for themselves, unlike Midgets, CN, and PS, who flood the listserve. Not saying its a bad thing, but it is what it is. They don`t need to come on and boost their own egos, its done on the field.
