The C teams from last season in A are a joke and none of them will get more then 2 wins.
Hokies finally win against a squad who should be in ankle-biters if they wanna be competitive in Liger....Hokies are halfway to their season win total if they`re lucky and might snag a slot in the C playoffs to try and win that before they move up.
Showers` two games they`ve have been against scrubs and lost to a scrub Pain squad...Shower will probably be a one and done squad in the B, maybe another season in the C will make you guys feel like you can play with the big boys...unlikely
Penetrators.........winless this year good choice on moving up..Back to the C league playoffs where u can get blasted again

season aint over yet homie. Pain got some lucky bounces that went there way. but its all good man keep thinking were soft and that we cant hang with "the big boys". You just go ahead and keep posting under an alias.
P.s. BC1 refs are retarded. trying to tell me if you defer the coin toss you get the ball in the beginning of both halfs. can we get guys who read the rule books and understand the game. It doesn’t look good when I have to explain to the ref the difference between a neutral zone infraction and encroachment.

Yeah BC#2 Refs said the same thing about the coin toss. Team won the toss said they wanted to kick, and then the ref was like, you realize you are going to kick both halfs right, so then the team defered to my team and was told that we have to recieve the first half if we want the ball first, cause regardless of our decision we werent getting it the second half. I mean cmon! Play some effing madden and you know how the toss works.

Tom you need to look into those refs, one was eating ice cream during the final game....and they were confused all day on what the penalties where. I don`t care if we get penalized but atleast know what your talking about.

Same here on the BC #2 refs. I didn`t hear the kickoff thing, but there were only 2 guys working the game, and they were under the impression that a hard billed hat was allowed if worn backwards. One of Team America worn his hat the whole game. Didn`t hurt anything, but it was the wrong call.
If we`re paying for these guys with our league fees, lets at least get some competent ones.

BC1 refs were the same refs who did the Centreville field week 2 games. They did a piss poor job that week and cost some teams some games.

Also, I asked the refs at BC 2 about deferring the decision after the coin toss and they said it doesnt matter in this league. Regardless of who RECIEVES the ball 1st, the other team will get it after the half. Is this TRUE or False?

No one said it was easy, and I sure as hell don`t want your job, but if you want the job you should know the rules. It`s like any other job you do in life, if you mess up you need to be held accountable.

Lucky,
While I agree that the new open league teams that moved up from C are by no means creating any kind of impact like they did when they were in C, you cannot blast them and say they will get dropped to C playoffs when their records are better than many other open league teams.
Say what you want about the new teams playing "scrubs" but every team plays the same opponents by the end of season. So the mere fact that the newcomers have won games clearly means there are other teams in contention for bottom 3 (and thus C league playoffs)..not the newcomers.
If you want to talk about teams dropping to C-League playoffs, the teams in contention for those spots, as of this week, are Brass Monkeys, Liger, Platinum, Penetrators, and Outlaws.

Mistakes happen. Mistakes are forgivable. Ignorance of your job isn`t. If I was a carpenter, and didn`t understand how to use a hammer I sure wouldn`t last long.
It`s about taking pride in what you do as well, and having the desire to do the job correctly, no matter what the job is.
I want to make myself clear, my stance isn`t about blown calls. It`s about knowing your job thoroughly. If you`re getting paid to referee flag, peewee, high school, college or the NFL, you better know the rules when you walk out on the field.
We still hand you our money at the end of the day, and for my dollars I want someone who knows their job and takes some pride in it.

Sounds like the refs are correct in there explaination of the coin toss -- here is how it works...
The team that wins the toss at the beginning of the game has the choice of what they would like to do (kick, recieve or defer) in the first half. The team that lost the toss has the choice of what they would like to do in the 2nd half (kick or recieve). If the team that won the toss chooses to defer they are saying they want to choose what will happen in the second half and the are giving the team that lost the toss to choose what will happen in the first half.
So if the team that won the toss chooses to kick in the first half -- the team that lost the toss can choose to recieve in the second half and as a result will get the ball first in both halves. That is why you defer your choice to the second half rather than electing to kick.
Hope that makes sense. But moral of the story is the refs were right -- read the rule book before you go criticizing them again.

I can understand changing football rules to fit the no pads flag football form, but why would you change something so simple as a kickoff to that. Its always been as long as I`ve watched football the team that won chooses if they want to kick, receive, or choose sides. if you want the ball the first half you pick receive, you want it in the second half you pick kick, you don`t want to choose then you pick a side. Having a team recieve both first and second half is just plan weird, kind of throws s tragedy out the window!

It`s simple

99% of the refs understand that if you say you want to kick in the first half that you are basically deferring your choice to receive in the second half. It is a dumb rule that most ignore cause it doesn`t make sense.

Who lucky strike plays for, and who exactly should move up?...Where should these new A teams come from? C and A are very very different, it takes some getting used to. I would say its a rarity to make in impact your first year. The Majorrrity of teams that move up are teams that Tom has encouraged to do so. Give them some time...I`m certain pain, hokies, shower, platinum and just about every other team in A would smash the top dogs of C

That is not true.
If you receive in the first half you kick in the second half period.
It automatically flips and you change side their is no way to get the ball noth halves unless the team you are playing does not have enough players, then you would get the ball both halves.

BC refs are idiots and so is the guy who thought they were right. Ask some ankle-biters that rule and they will know the answer. Rookie refs need to stop eating ice cream and taking piss during the games.
Page 17 - Rule 3, Section 1, Art. 1 ( c ) REP: “At half, goals will be reversed, and 1st half"
Page17Rule3,Section1,Art.2 "kicking team shall be 2nd half receiving team”.

| |
|
yeah
May 06, 2008 12:55 PM | | ; |
ref was arguing with me for choosing to kick first half, saying i can`t choose "two halves in a row".
really there are only three options.
kick first half, receive second half, opposing team chooses which end to defend.
receive first half, kick second half, opposing team chooses which end to defend.
choose side to defend, opposing team chooses what to do with the ball.
if winning coin toss team only gets to decide what to do with the ball 1st half, then what`s the point of choosing to kick it off and have the losing team choose to receive the ball again?

Well you guys are still wrong about the coin toss...As stated in the VA State rules you are correct D48. The NATIONAL RULE IS page 17 rule 3 art 1a The captain winning the toss shall choose one of the following options: 1 to kick 2. to receive 3. to designate which goal his team will defend b. The looser of the toss shall make a choice of the remaining option. C. BEFFORE THE START OF THE SECOND HALF THE CHOOSING OF OPTIONS WILL BE REVERSED. SO IN THE NATIONALS YOU COULD RECEIVE BOTH HALFS!!!!! FOR example if team red wins toss and chooses to defend a goal and blue says I will receive. THEN at the beginning of the second half TEAM blue could have his choose to receive.
