subject: "NO Open League games on 3/16, week 1 C schedule up"

The schedule for 3/16 is up - the unknown field is Lake Fairfax#1. There are no games on Easter 3/23, and we`ll resume play (limited) on 3/30.
This season might get off to a weird start.
We are now only permitted for Herndon and Lake Ffx#1 on 3/16, so we`ll run 6 Novice games on that date (with the aim to complete the Novice league first and leave more room for the larger Open playoffs in late May/June).
March 23 is Easter - so no games, even though we have permits for that day.
It seems there is a soccer tournament on 3/30 and our permits for BC#1, BC#2 & Lake Ffx#1 are wiped for that day - leaving Hook & Herndon only.
Also, I have left the Monday night 7:30 PM slot open from the weeknight league for one Monday night football game each week for the Sunday league, since that league only plays 8 games a week.
So the question is, after the Easter break...do we
1) continue on 3/30 with week 2 Novice only and then start the Open league on 4/6 (all teams playing). At this point, 6 Open teams will also have played a Monday night game (3/17, 3/24, 3/31).
or
2) Play 7 Open games on Sunday 3/30, plus 3 more on Mon nights (3/17, 3/24, 3/31) - so that 20 out of the 28 Open teams have a game played by 3/30. In this case though, Novice would have a 3 week break (3/16 - 4/6) between week 1 and week 2.
From 4/6 and beyond, the permits open up and we`ll run 14 Open games per week every week, for 7 weeks straight through to Mem Day weekend (5/25).
Feedback is welcomed, and in the meantime, I will see what I can do about extra field space for 3/30.

Personally, from a Novice standpoint I don`t think I`d want a 3 week break between games. Thats a lot of downtime in between games.

Why not just start some of the Open league games on the 16th and leaving the Novice league to start 4/6.
At least this way the Open league can start and keep it going through 3/16 and 3/30...
Being in the Novice league...we (my team) don`t mind starting in April, so long as there isn`t a break between games.

Have novice start march 16. start open on March 30 with a large bulk of teams starting april 6. Many teams are just waking up anyway. Using monday nights should be done so sparingly as there are specific reasons wny teams chose to play sunday mornings. monday night could wipe out a team`s players who can only do sunday.

Just start the season on April 6. We`ll have St. Patty`s Day, Easter, and the soccer tourney all out of the way and we can just focus on eight straight weeks of football. I do like the Monday night "game of the week" wrinkle, though.

To start Novice and then have a three week break b/t week 1 and 2 would be tough. I also think having teams play on Monday night should only be used as a last resort.
How about the Novice start on the 16th and continue with the season on the 30th and have all Open teams start on 4/6? Not sure what that doese to field space.
On a side note, with the field situation being what it is will Novice have Playoffs?

No Break? I understand that people would like to play 8 weeks in a row, in theory it sounds great. Although, I cant remember the last time I had a season with out a rain out, and end up playing a double header, missing weeks, make up on off days, etc. I would like to see some open games start earlier, the more open games we get out of the way sooner, the more flexable we are when the rain outs hit. Im ready to play..

I agree with Start ... Monday nights sound like a good idea until half your team can`t make it due to work, etc.
I`m in favor of sticking to Sundays. Even doubling up on Sundays as we`ve done in the past is better than losing half your team.

Only teams who agree to play Monday nights will do so. There is only 1 Monday night game per week, so some teams who want to may play multiple Mondays - many teams will not play a single Monday night game.
