I am often asked about tournaments and how teams can get into them.

We only run 3 tournaments a year: Stars & Stripes (8 teams), Bark Bowl (16 teams) & Turkey Bowl (4 teams).

Our net profit from these events is $0 (actually we usually wind up paying out more than we take in). Bark Bowl and Stars & Stripes benefit Animal Shelters in Fairfax & Arlington, Turkey Bowl is run at cost.

We (Rob, myself and Shay - when he`s here) do this because we love the sport. Each of us has a fulltime job and families that are collectively growing every year. As for the leagues, after all is said and done we could make more spending the time we put into it doing something which requires far less effort.

Now you know our mindset. We do need a break, which is the whole second half of December + January before registration starts for the 3 Spring leagues, and then a few weeks in the summer. So, we`ll never run a winter or summer league and its doubtful we`ll add anymore tournaments. There is a human limit to the time you can put into this every year without having a detrimental effect of the rest of your life.

That`s not to say we won`t expand the scope of what we currently do (leagues and tournaments) - we just won`t add to the off season schedule.

Now...if any of you want to organize and run an off season tournament, we can help you with some logistics.

That was a dumb post from a C leaguer. How about your team join the Open division? That is how the best team in the IFFL is decided. Dumb.

Rhinos please pack it up. Time for the whole team to just retire and go away now. You had a good run but it is over now.

Tom, I know you don`t hear it enough, mainly b/c you`re so busy trying to run the league and answer a lot of people`s unreasonable requests, but thank you (and Rob and Shay) for the amazing job you do during the year to organize and run these leagues and tournaments. You don`t make any profit and you get almost zero thanks, but getting the opportunity to play some ball against great competition on such a regular basis is really a joy, and I really don`t know anyone else who would have the time, dedication and patience to do what you guys do...THANKS

You guys are too old, too slow, and too ****y to ever win again. Wait, did I say again? Did you ever win in the 1st place?

Evidentally "It`s Over Rhinos" and "Seriously Rhinos" are two of the MANY teams in the past few seasons and tourneys to take an azz-whuppin` from us old senior citizens. We may not be the "young bucks" that some of you are but a 2nd place finish in the Bark Bowl and a one loss season, including a win over a tough Wolves team, and close loss in playoffs to Lazy Sundae says us old guys can still bring it on Any Given Sunday!

A loss in the first round to Mutiny last season and a tie this year. Plus a lost to Pain as well. Take a good hard look. It may hurt but it looks like it is needed.

I once again thank all of you for your concerns about the safety and health of my geriatric team. As for whether we "ever could win", I personally think we more than held our own. I do know that over the past few years we won an IFFL A league spring title in 2005, made the IFFL Spring A league final four in 2006, finished second in the Bark Bowl 2007 & made the final four of Bark Bowl 2006, made the finals of the Fall 2006 IFFL A league, finished 7th in A states in 2006 and made the final four in B states in 2005. In addtion, prior to moving to A we won numerous B and C titles.

More importantly, we still have fun playing, so win or lose, you are going to have to deal with us washed up has beens/never beens for at least a little while longer.

We definitely are not as young as we used to be but then, who is? As for the Turkey Bowl, keep in mind, WE were ASKED to play do to our prior record and performance not the other way around. Granted, the Wolves and Lazy Sundae were selected ahead of us but we must still be doing something right if the league came to us as a team. As for some of the insults thrown our way, I can only assume that there are a few teams who feel slighted that they were not invited to play in this four team tournament. My responce to you is simple-Win. That is what we have done on a consistant basis for years. Outside of the Sharks, Lazy, Novas, Wolves, and Larrys, there are not too many teams that can make that same defense. And yes, we tied Mutiny (with our FOURTH string QB) and lost to Pain who is a very underrated team. So, what does that mean? That there truly is parity in the league? If that is the case then good. The last time I checked, only the Wolves completed a season undefeated. In any event, unless you play for the Sharks, Bad Boyz, Wolves or Novas, you are intitled to your opinion but it really doesn`t mean sh**.
