What a great Weekend for football this Sunday, and I think these games will be good to watch. Who`s right now the hottest of the 4 teams left playing in A league?

I`d like to see a Lazy vs. Dietze final.

The Wolves are good, but they had a pretty easy run through the regular season (despite losing to the Rhinos in the season finale). Going up against Lazy will be their first real challenge as they try to defend their Spring title.
Prediction: Lazy 14, Wolves 10

Lazy is a shoo-in for the final if the get the refs from Remember the Titans like last week.

Rhinos

There was no problme with the refs in our game against Lazy last Sunday (although I do think the fourth down play near the end of the first half was not a catch). We lost because we got outplayed in the second half. It is that simple.
Good luck to all of the final four teams.

Rhinos, congrats on being able to be such a class act. I`ll say what you can`t though; those refs were brutal. I saw 5 or 6 flags on Rhinos without a single one against Lazy. That pass you were talking about bounced 3 feet in front of #81, but was still called a catch, costing y`all a chance to score before the half. Just an all-around poor performance from the zebras.

Weekend

Can`t hate on any of the teams left, they`re all legit. Tough to predict too, any of them could win and it wouldn`t be a fluke. It looks like the four best teams are in the semi-finals, which is nice. Usually one lower seeded team gets in there by way of upset. (I`m not hating on BadBoyz or Rhino`s here, those two teams are solid also, and Larry`s put up a good fight. Although BadBoyz does have a couple of bad losses this year to the playmakers, who are whack, but they`re still solid in my book.)
Anyway, here`s how I see things shaking out:
- Wolves vs. Lazy. Two teams that have been around a long while and know each other pretty well. Lazy will throw deep with Von, and will have Sef run around making plays. Wolves will counter with ball control, and their strong short-medium passing game. This game comes down to flag pulling. If the Wolves can pull Sef`s flags quickly, and make Von throw quickly, they can hold Lazy to a low point total. If Lazy pulls flags where the Wolves catch the ball and limit the yards after catch, they can slow the Wolves offense down. Should be a good game, these two teams bring it and like playing against each other. Wildcard? If either team has players missing, it will be a big factor. I lean towards Lazy in a close one. (And you KNOW the refs will give them the breaks, that`s just the way it is.)
- Dietz vs. Sharks. The defending champs, vs. the team that`s been at or near the top for several years now since they`ve begun playing in this league. The Sharks have lots of speed, and are all really good players. They don`t make many mistakes, but when you do they make you pay. Kind of the "Iceman" of flag football teams. They keep waiting for YOU to screw up, and then it`s over. Dietz has been here before and knows how to win these types of games. I`m not sure this Sunday league had the firepower in past years that it has this year though. Can Dietz make another run through a double-header this weekend and take another championship? Wildcard? Dietz`s injuries. They lost a couple of key players, and certainly still have lots of talent, but that might be exposed against a team like the Sharks. I`ll lean towards the Sharks, maybe even comfortably.
Final: Lazy vs. Sharks. Prepare for up and down the field in this one. Sharks should know that if Von is in at Qb, he can throw it further than anyone else in the league...and will. Lazy likes to stretch the field. Can the Sharks score enough to keep up? I think yes. I like the Sharks to win it all this weekend.
Should be 3 really good games. I`ve played against the Wolves and Lazy this year, and am really looking forward to hearing how that game goes.

Agree with Weekend

Good insight/analysis. I agree that any of these four teams can legitimately win it all. The key factors are personnel and who makes the fewest mistakes.
With Von`s arm and the Wolves` speed, I think that game is gonna be a high-scoring track meet. I give Lazy the edge.
I`ve never seen Dietz play, but I know that their reputation and their history in this league makes them the real deal (hell, they are two-time defending champs). But I`ve gotten my ass kicked by the Sharks more times than I care to mention, so I know how they bring it. So I will go with what I know and pick the Sharks in this one.
If it`s a Lazy-Sharks final, I would have to give the edge to the Sharks because of their speed.
However things shake out on Sunday, these are gonna be three god games to watch.
Getcha popcorn ready!

Good luck to A teams left

I would like to say good luck to Sharks, Lazy, and Wolves this weekend. I wish we had our full squad but there are no excuses come playoff time. Regardless of what team we field, we will play clean and hard til the end.
Good preview "Weekend". I know we play a lot more athletic teams, but somehow we find a way to win and I think our record the last 3 years prove that. Not to mention playing in States last year and making it to the championship game was good experience for a lot of us.
Looking forward to the weekend games, it`s going to be chilly! -Dietze

Prediction
Oct 30, 2007 3:38 PM | | ; |
Dietze is not a great team to begin with, and certainly nothing to write home about if the bald guy doesn`t play (from what I heard he isn`t). Sharks cheat like sons of *****es and should control that game, Dietze will be falling all over the place trying to pull their two speedy WRs flags.
Lazy really has no business beating the Wolves, but they have a chance after the piece of **** game they put up against the Rhinos to finish out the season. I think that precision will overcome, though, and the Wolves make it to the final.
Final: Sharks upset Wolves 21-17

Haven played/seen 3 of the 4 teams in the finals, i totally believe that Lazy and Sharks will be in the finals. I don`t know Dietz, but in my opinion, Lazy is a little better than the Wolves and a lot better than Sharks. Again, I don`t know Dietz, but the best team in the finals right now is Lazy.

Yeah, but...

your opinion is retarded, True Observer.

Sef 81
Oct 30, 2007 8:42 PM | | ; |
Anyone that has played against me knows I don`t cheat. That pass that "hit the ground 3 feet in front of me" actually didn`t. I did catch it and if I hadn`t, I would`ve said so after the game. There were several flags that were thrown and several that weren`t. To all the squads left in A B and C, Good luck on sunday.

Ask Lazy if they know Dietze

Interesting observation that Lazy is the best team in the finals when they already lost this year and last year to Dietze Nutz. Get your facts straight.

Lazy isn`t that good! Wolves will crush them.

Doing some research I saw that Dietze has a 17-2-1 record last 3 fall seasons and 5 game winning streak in the playoffs, yet nobody seems to be picking them in the finals. Interesting. Sleep on em and get beat!

Dietze
Oct 31, 2007 9:28 AM | | ; |
I think most people are taking into account the injuries they`ve suffered. No one is sleeping on them, or any of these 4 teams. But they need to bring their A game to beat the Sharks, and some of their significant injuries will probably prevent that from happening. This isn`t a knock on them at all, just reality.

Who are you kidding? If you hadn`t caught it, you would have said so? BS.

Are you still playing in the playoffs? Probably not!!! Sef is a pretty good player, and that was a hell of a catch!!! Close, but a great catch. You should sit your non playing azz in a chair and enjoy the rest of the playoffs BIOTCH!!!

dietze...
Nov 02, 2007 5:59 PM | | ; |
Dietze is a good team but they have a few key guys out. This was evident in a big way against Pain. They only won that game by a score and had there defense exposed by Pains scramble and their little munchkin. They seem to have no speed because they couldn`t catch the qb and even allowed Pains little man to go about 70 yards after catching a slant. Sharks have tons of speed, we could see many more 70 yard plays in this one.

I didn`t watch the game, but I did predict that Lazy would beat the Wolves and I thought they would beat the Sharks. Hats off to the Sharks...BB hope that you guys comeback to the MD league again. The competition was great...besides a tie needs to be broken.
Congrats again...

I got to watch some of the Dietze vs Sharks game
Dietze was up on the Sharks well into the 2nd half. Dietze qb got picked off by a sharks corner with a pretty spectacular int... the guy broke on the ball like it was nobody`s business and was almost out of bounds. Sharks scored a few plays later and Dietze had about a minute to come back. They were putting together a nice final drive with no timeouts (I think they moved 40-50 yds in 2-3 plays) and were 15-20 yds from the endzone, they just couldn`t get in. Damn good game.
