Nothing is set in stone yet, but here is how we`re leaning:
There are 21 Open teams between MD and VA. We`ll take the top 11 overall (3 div winners + next 8) for "A", and the bottom 10 for "B".
In the "A", teams ranked 6-11 will play wildcard games followed 70 minutes later by a quarterfinal game on the same day, 1 vs 8/9, 2 vs 7/10, 3 vs 6/11, 4 vs 5. Semifinals will be the following week, championship the week after that.
In the "B" we`re going to do a random draw whereby 6 teams will have a bye and 4 will play wildcard games. Then the 6 bye teams + 2 wildcard winners will play quarterfinals on the same day.
For "C", or Novice, It will be a straight 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5 quarterfinals.
We`ll play all semifinals (6 games) at Pop Tree Park (#2 & #3), and the championships (3 games) there the following week.
Assuming no rainouts, 10/28 will be round 1 and quarterfinals, 11/4 will be semis, 11/11 championships.
Round 1 games where the Maryland team is the higher seed will be played (if possible) at at a field which is a compromise in distance between the MD and VA fields. Some higher seed MD teams (i.e. Sharks if they rank as a higher seed) may wish to play their round 1 games in VA, in which case all associated games in the pyramid would move to VA.

Veteran`s Day
Oct 01, 2007 2:44 PM | | ; |
With the championship games being on Veteran`s Day weekend is this going to cause problems with teams missing players due vacations/travel?
Any chance the league would consider moving the games to a weeknight or different weekend?

Bad weekend

A lot of players are gonna be busy and vacationing the championship weekend so that would make for some teams not to have all players there! You should either double up or skip that weekend. That would give some teams unfair advantages. Dont want crappy teams to win your titles do you??

Holidays!

I agree, playing on the holiday weekends is like a handicap to most teams...that includes this weekend as we`ll be most likely playing with nine people instead of 18 because most will be out of town.
