DIVISION I

Playmakers&Chickens

The Playmakers have too much size and speed for the Fighting Chickens who will spend most of the morning trying to convert on 3rd and 2 cones. The Chickens have never beat the MacDaddies and the Playmakers are a bigger and faster version. Look for the Playmakers to open a double digit halftime lead and then eat the clock. 20-6 Playmakers.

Scrubs&Lions

2 veteren teams battle it out in what promises to be one of the best games of the day. The Scrubs are innovative and patient, but the Lions have enough speed and a disruptive defense to take them out of their gameplan. 17-14 Lions.

Banditos&Larrys

A rematch of a close regular season game. With a full squad, look for the Banditos to avenge the earlier loss by stretching the field a little more and keeping the Larrys pass rush in check. This game will not be as close. 21-10 Banditos.

Novas&Titans

Did the Titans hit a bump in the road last week or is the joy ride over? The Titans had problems with Outcast last week but nothing was on the line for them. Last years division II champs impressed this season and should be at the division I level to stay, but that first trip to the big league playoffs is all about nerves which not many coming teams can overcome. Look for the Novas to show up with a full squad like they always do come playoff time. The Novas expect to win this game and they should win this game comfortably while forcing the Titans into several uncharacteristic mistakes. Novas 27-7.

MacDaddies&Redskins

Not much is known about the Redskins besides the fact that they lost to only the Novas and Playmakers in the regular season but being third place in the weakest division is nothing to write home about. They will be going up against a team with plenty of playoff experience. The MacDaddies should ge good for a win or 2 in the playoffs and game 1 will not present too much of a challenge. Welcome to the playoffs Redskins, MacDaddies 28-7.

Goldrush&Rhinos

A rematch of a 2005 round 1 game which the Rhinos almost lost. Goldrush is a much better team this year, but not yet on the level of the Rhinos. Look for a game very similar to last year with the same result. Rhinos 14-10.

United&Vegas

United is playing the underdog even though they are the higher seed. They finished second in what is arguably the toughest division and that counts for something. They beat the Lions, Outcast and All Makes & Models, 3 veteren teams that usually end the season with a winning record. No doubt the talent is there. If they play relaxed they can win this game. If they come in tense they will lose to a Vegas Nights team whose players have plenty of high stakes playoff experience at the division I level. I think they tense up and Vegas Nights pounces. Call it a learning experience, Vegas Nights 21-10.

Wolverines&Lazy

After 2 straight trips to the division II championship game the Wolverines made the division I playoffs. That`s the good news for them. The bad news is that they are facing a team who has beaten them decisively 3 times in the last 3 years. Lazy Sundae is looking to make it 4 final4 appearances in a row and they have an excellent shot. Do not look for a round 1 let down. Lazy 27-14.

Final4: My earlier final4 picks of Rhinos,Lions,Lazy&Vegas is not possible because of the brackets. Replace Vegas with Banditos and you have it.

Has anyone making these predictions seen or played against the Fighting Chickens this year?I think the FC might have a few surprises for the Playmakers. They might be better than a lot of the 4-2 and 5-2 teams.

Tips? Keep the QB in the pocket and make him throw. He`s got some hosses in front him but they are slow and create a wall within themselves so squeeze from the edges and keep him behind his own men.

If he throws it, watch the sidelines and deep more than the middle. He`s not a bad QB. Just try to rattle him and get him moving but make sure he gets rid of that ball of he`s running for 10 yds.

Their only chance

If the Woverines stay patient, nickel and dime, run the clock, and get a little lucky they have a chance by virtue of their kicker. You may not stop lazy, but you can move the ball on them and manipulate the clock to your favor. That pretty much goes for every team, but some of the old "B" teams (Wolverines, Rhinos, Scrubs) can be pretty good at "sneaky ball"/taking 5-7 yards a play. Would be Villanova/Gtown all over again, but you never know...
