first off, i dont want to make any excuses for losing...we lost that game, and hats off to the magnums, you played a good game. i just want to know the rule on this. with our last chance on offense from the 15 yd line on 4th down, our QB threw a jump ball in the endzone, both the receiver and CB come down with the ball, but our receiver landed on his back with the CB on top of him. the CB ripped the ball out of his hands. one ref called it a TD, and the other one waved it off calling it a INT, therefore giving them the game. from what i understand about the rules, if it was not in the endzone that IS a pick. but in the endzone, once the WR`s feet (or back in this case) hit the ground its a TD (tie goes to the WR.) i just wanted to check the rule on this. can i get some help? and like i said before, no excuses...just a rule check

TD If the ball was stripped after the catch- it should be a TD.In order to be an interception- the db has to show possession BEFORE the offensive player lands in the endzone.

If these were the three refs at the Herndon field then the call they made on the field was probably wrong. They were terrible all day long.

How many feet do you need down to declare a catch ?

yes, it was at herndon. and yes the refs sucked. we threw another pick earlier in the game and one ref blew an inadvertent wistle after the catch and it ended up costing them almost 30 yds from the return. i mean, i dont want to say that we would have won that game had the call been a TD, but a chance to win in OT would have been nice. what a ****ty way to lose. thanks for the replies guys

The ref had a tough call to make but to be completely honest, if he didnt call it an INT I would have been pretty upset.

I reached in front of the WR and we caught it at the same time, but his arms were around me. Both of us had 2 hands on the ball while we were falling but as soon as we hit the ground he lost possession - b/c i had position on him.

So from what I remember, I had way more possession then the WR. I know the WR is supposed to get the benefit of doubt around the endzone, but in that case it would have been tough to call it for the WR.

The refs werent that terrible - the back judge which happened to be the guy that made the final call - did well most of the game regardless of the INT call. The terrible ref was the line judge - he barely ever signaled that the line was set and he is also the one that blew the inadvertent whistle. He was just too timid to be out there.

That was definitely a tough call to make for the ref because it looked to me like both players (blazers WR and Mags safety)were on the ball at the same time. The ref actually had a better view than me because he was on that side of the field and in front of the play.

I believe the rule would be this: If the Blazers WR caught the ball and then our safety grabbed it after he had possession then it should be a TD. If both players have the ball at the same time and it can`t be determined who actually has possession the call would go to whoever comes up with the ball (regardless of the fact that the WR`s feet were in bounds). I assume the ref determined that both players were on the ball at the same time and as they fell to the ground neither had full possession. Our safety kind of rolled as they fell and had position and came up with the ball so the ref awarded the INT to us.

I`ve definitely seen this same exact kind of play in the NCAA and NFL and its a judgement call on the official and I`ve seen it go both ways.

in my WR`s defense...you would let go of the ball too if you fell flat on your back with someone landing on top of you. but yea, it was a tough judgement call, and i would have loved to battle it out in OT wit you guys. GREAT GAME MAGS

If the WR has possession in the end zone its a touchdown. If the official could not determine who had initial possession (and determining that both had equal possession is in fact a determination) when the two came down - its not a touchdown.

(pre-emptive post) I know someone is going to interpret what I wrote as saying tie goes to the defense - I am not saying that - a tie would go to the offense. The fact that it is a tie is a determination which in this case was not made by the official.

What if a train leaves L.A. at 6pm going 80 miles an hour and another train leaves San Fran at 7pm going 47 miles an hour. What time will they crash in IDONTGIVA****?

R U sure? Last season there were a couple of instances where the ball was stripped. When asked if this was allowed- the answer came down that it is as long as the defender does not impede the runner. So , I ask again are you sure that stripping is not allowed ?

You can only strip if you are on the NOVA`s or Lazy.

Boy can people get this ALL screwed up.

First of all ONLY one ref made the call

which was the deep sideline official that ruled

the play as a touchback.

It appeared from my position 25 yards away

like most players who are making these statements

that the defender and receiver both had possession in the

air the ball was coming lose as they went down in which the

defender ended up with ball. Ruling Touchback...

And for "Playa" I guess you there ALL day from 8AM till 12:15PM!!!

Ok “Playa” PLAY: offensive pass interference on 4th down incomplete pass....

What would you do as the captain of the defensive team???
