subject: "Top Teams after Week 2"

Now that we`ve had the first 2 weeks of the season, let`s take a look at the top teams thus far in A/B League:

1. NOVAS - This may be the scariest team in A League. They are off to a quick 3-0 start and have yet to allow a single point on defense. 2 of the 3 wins have come against veteran IFFL squads. The NOVAS are probably in the 2nd toughest division this season and look for them to make it 4-0 after playing the Raw Dawgs this weekend.

2. Rhinos - You can`t really look at them as a "surprise team" anymore as they have established their team as one of the top organizations in the IFFL. A surprise might be how well they handled the Larry`s in Week 2. The game of the week will be this Sunday when they face off against DWC.

3. Lazy Sundae - another perennial power house is off to another good start. They have yet to lose a game, but a surprising tie game against Pain has knocked them to #3. They should manhandle Goin Deep this weekend.

4. Wolves - This is the new and improved Lions team and they`re off to a great start, beginning the season 3-0. Critics will still jump on them by saying they play great during the regular season, but choke in the playoffs - same old Lions team. Regardless, they have beaten a solid team in Mutiny and didn`t have much trouble vs. Diesel and Crisak.

5. DWC - off to a nice 3-0 start to begin the season. The one knock on them is that The Little Sisters of the Poor could`ve beaten overrated and hounds. DWC will have the real test this week against Rhinos.

6. Pain - this might be the biggest surprise team for the early part of this season. They began week 1 with a surprising tie against Lazy Sunday (a moral victory for this young Pain squad). I expected them to destroy Entourage but they squeeked out a 7-0 victory. It`s obvious that this is one of the better defensive teams in the league. Anyone that can hold Lazy to 7 points deserves to be considered among the elite defenses.

7. Magnums - They are off to a nice 2-0 start with a quality win over Mac Daddies. It took this young team 3 seasons to start to manufacture some wins. It will be interesting to see where this team stands in 2 weeks once they`ve played some of the veteran squads.

8. Gold rush - They gave Lazy a tough game in Week 1 but wound up on the losing end. In week 2 they handed Outcast their first defeat. I look forward to their game this week against Entourage`s stifling defense.

9. Outcast - They started this season off with a bang in manhandling Entourage and Goin Deep. They have a very potent offense that can keep defenses on their heels. Unfortunately their offense failed to show up against Goldrush. They have a great matchup this week against Pain.

10. Titans - they started the season off with a decisive victory over Mac Daddies, a team that won their division last spring. The Titans took a step back last week at the hands of the Novas. The Titans have a QB that is very quick but they just couldn`t find a way to punch it in the endzone against the tough Novas defense. The Titans play against one of their top rivals this Sunday, All Makes & Models. All Makes have won 4 out of the 5 teams these teams have met, but the Titans won in the last meeting (1 year ago this Monday).

Get yo popcorn ready!

As a crusty veteran who has seen the NOVA`s retool several times, anyone willing to go into detail about the resurgance? any new players? just curious...

update on novas

The novas have the same core players they`ve had for a long time, but they added a handful of players right before the fall season. they went undefeated in the fairfax fall league and lost a fluke first round game in the A state tourney.

I agree with the top 5.

Not hating on Pain but I think it is too early to be putting them on the top 10. They tied a tired Lazy and barely beat Entourage who in my opinion is a C team. Pain will be playing another C team this weekend and should be able to win against the Prowlers. Then they will face Outlaws. The outcome of that game will determine if they are for real but Pain on the top 10 is a little premature at this point.

This is who I think should be the top 10:

1. NOVAS
2. Rhinos
3. Lazy
4. Wolves
5. DWC
6. Titans
7. Magnums
8. Outcast
9. United
10. Goldrush

Pain will be playing Prowlers and then Outcast.Double header games have taken a toll on teams playing the second game , so we will see .......

I think you have Titans too high on that list, but we`ll have to see what they do this weekend (beat a crap team, but lost to the best team)

to re:Keeper

You are right.

Top 5 teams are solid. Team 6-10 is in my opinion are all about the same. They shouldn`t be in any particular order.

If any of you have Goldrush in your top 10 your wrong. What has Magnum done for that matter.

here`s an idea

rather than saying a team should not be in the top 10....why not suggest who should be in there to replace them. Then you could actually make a point rather than just saying something stupid like "this team should not be in there"

I don`t think it`s that much of a stretch to have Goldrush and Magnums in the top 10. Most of the teams after 2 weeks of play are 1-1 so a team that is 2-0 makes sense to be ranked top 10. goldrush is a decent team who knocked off a 2-0 team and gave lazy a scare in week 1.

I think Pain has a legit spot in top 10. The fact is they tied Lazy regardless and they they won against a defensive minded Entourage. Entourage played well in the Fairfax league. I think they wen tto B championship

Get off Gold rush`s ****, they make the most out of the saying any given sunday. At best they are a .500 team. Like last fall did they beat lazy or did lazy lose the game. I think the last two times lazy played them proved which is true. What was the score of the playoffs ?
As for Sunday, did Goldrush beat Outcast or did Outcast lose ? How many points did they score ?

Let`s reorganize this top ten:

1. NOVAS- solid and consistent, no mistake football
2. Wolves- healthy and very dangerous
2. Rhinos- savy and great flag pullers
3. Lazy- deep threat- that`s it
5. DWC- no good- joke
6. Titans- no good- joke
7. Magnums- no good- joke
8. Titans- no good- joke
9. Outcast- terrible, dumb
10. United- Qb and one reciever

There are your four A teams that will fight it out at the end. Mark my words! This is what you will see.

Since when has Mutiny been a solid team, Diesel is an average B team at best, and who knows what Crisak is about, Wolves will always be a competitive team but don`t give there opposition so much credit...
