2007 SPRING LEAGUE INFORMATION:

Our Spring 2007 season is set to kickoff Sunday March 25th. We are prepared to accommodate up to 48 teams.

The games will be played Sunday mornings between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM in Reston, Centreville and Herndon.

There will be a 7 game regular season to be followed by a post-season for ALL TEAMS. (A, B and C playoffs). Your team is guaranteed 8 games.

There are 2 levels of play: Open and Novice. Open is A, B and .500 and above Novice teams from the prior season. Novice is also for new teams and sub .500 C teams. At the end of the regular season, we`ll split the Open division into "A" and "B" playoffs based on regular season records. This ensures balanced competition in the post-season, and has worked well for years.

Novice holds its own playoffs - "C".

If you have played in an IFFL league before or in the Fairfax or Arlington league, you already know the rules: 8 on 8, all players are eligible receivers, no blocking downfield (or on kickoffs/punts). It is full rush, and above-the-waist blocking on the line of scrimmage at the snap of the ball. Basic rules are under the rules link on the site. A full rule book can be found in PDF format at www.vffa.com. If your team is running short one week, you need only 6 players to start and finish a game.

Our League Fee for the Spring 2007 season is $770.00 , which covers everything, and includes all officiating fees (regular season and playoffs), and the Fairfax County participant fee. It does not cover out-of-county players ($20.00 per player).

There are 2 payment plans - detailed in the registration section, once you are logged in.

The IFFL is a Virginia Flag Football Association (and USFFA) member league, and our top teams are offered berths in the December Virginia State Tournament playoffs.

Teams must provide their own flags (two same-length detachable flags on the belt - sonic pop brand). Several stores in the area sell these flags - including Target online www.target.com

If you make any adjustments to your roster before the third game (deadline for all roster adjustments), do so on the coach section of the website before your third game. ALL rosters are final after the third game. Anyone who plays on your team for the third game and beyond MUST BE ROSTERD ON YOUR TEAM PAGE BEFORE THE THIRD GAME. You will NOT be able to change your roster online after your third game. Players are permitted to switch teams if they choose during the first 2 weeks, but can only play for one team per week - and must be on the roster of the new team and off the roster of the old team before the game. You must pay an additional $20 for every player (6 maximum) on your roster who is not a Fairfax County resident.

Additionally, after week 3, oppossing coaches will be able to view the first and last names only of all players you have rostered during the week leading up to the game - so you better roster everyone who might be playing for you.

Once a team is registered, the coach and asst coach will have access to the extensive free agent list.

NOTE: we often get emails from teams who have, say 4 or 5 players and want to join with other teams in similar circumstances. There are over 500 free agents on our free agent list. All you need to do to have access to this list is to register a team and pay the partial with the players you do have - and you should have no problem finding enough players to round out your roster!

March 18th is the deadline for team applications, but keep in mind we will close registration if we fill the league before then!
