"either way you`re ****ed" |

| sideline | 12:12 PM |
yeah i saw a ref in the game between wolfpack and off in the showers blatently curse at the wolfpack players. So wrong, especially infront of little kids on the sidelines. |
|
| WP#21 | 1:34 PM |
i can confirm that .. i was one of the players trying to protest a call .. the ref who said it to us .. was calling a flag from the other side of the field .. and there was a sideline ref who didnt throw a flag who had a better view from his angle .. and we basically tried to make our case on why it shouldnt have been a flag .. and the guys says .. "either way your f***`d" |
|
| observer | 1:53 PM |
Just to let you know that I think that the kids that you are referring to on the sidelines were one of the ref`s kids. |
|
| point observer? | 2:51 PM |
Is it right either way?
I tell you this if one of the players were to say that we would have been kicked from the field. |
|
| WP#21 | 5:31 PM |
the kids on the sidelines belonged to the sideline judge .. the ref that said cursed was the main ref .. and that still doesnt justify what he did .. to us and in front of those children |

Tom will prolly know who this is, but I will stay anonymous b/c once the refs have you in your crosshairs, you are dead. At our field (Hook) the refs have been great. I feel your pain though. I have always contended we should officiate each others games: each team has a couple of guys that know the rules and ref other division games. Lets face it, there are only 3-4 penalties to call/the best thing to do is leave the flag in your pocket and keep track of time. The only achilles heel is if B league guys are asked to do A league there might be some intimidation...I dont know, has promise and will save $$$ |

i agree. wp will get now that they put up their name. i have got to say that most refs are doing a great job. but namely 2 that ref the baron cameron games seem a bit racial. one is way too anal about shorts, studs, and flag colors and the other ref just makes blatent bad calls. both seemed to be against the minority teams. not saying that the white teams don`t get flaged but they let things slide alot more for them. |
|
| oh well | 7:21 PM |
what can you do. But yeah i do agree they are some douche bags. |
|
| yeah | 8:38 PM |
a couple refs take this like its their life. |
|
| wow | 3:59 PM |
The ref that did say F*** word apologies for getting his mouth a head of his brain. My understanding the official was fined. I guess one major problem with players reefing game knowing the rules. I know of many players who are officials now and after 5 years still don`t know the rules. Remember refs do miss calls, players drop passes for touchdowns, miss a kick with NO RUSH field goal, extra point and miss lots of flags. TO ANONYMOUS the refs need help like you, so please get in touch with Rob or Tom about officiating! TO: OH WELL they’re some players out there that are "douche bags".

i understand that refs miss calls .. and i can understand .. that wasnt my point .. the point of my situation was that there was a sideline judge that was in front of the play .. and he didnt call a flag .. but then the other ref threw a flag from where he was .. which was across the other side of the field .. so its frustrating .. but as a player .. im just complaining .. and for refs .. it comes with the nature of the business |
|
| wow | 5:35 PM |
WP#21 I thought the ref(referee position) in the middle field towards the side line official thru the flag. Also there is no such thing in flag as "UNCATCHABLE" ONLY IN PRO`S and you can not PUSH someone out of bounds... |
|
| vet | 5:40 PM |
believe it or not, it is SO SO SO much better than it used to be... |
|
| Grays 22 | 7:30 PM |
I agree with vet. The refs have been better, and hopeully they continue to improve.
The refs we had at Herndon last year needed the captains to brief them on the rules before each game, which isn`t comforting.
And one of these days they`ll make a ruling on whether a touchdown is when the ball crosses the goalline, one flag crosses the goalline, both flags cross the goalline, or the player still has both flags after gaining possesion of the ball in the endzone. I`ve seen it called all four ways.

High Def video replays! |

grays 22 is right about the td crossing. i still don`t know if its the ball or the body. To wow: as players we have the right to be douche bags because we live in the moment of the game, plus we pay for the refs so its fair to ask for a decent ref.i don`t have a problem with close calls. but when a ref tells a team they are Fu**ed both ways in a condecending tone, that ain`t right. |
|
| WP#21 | 10:31 PM |
no .. it was the the ref who was on the other side because when i was on the field .. i protested some calls and i looked at him and he was on the other sideline .. unless they switch positions .. then thats what i saw |
|
| WP#21 | 10:34 PM |
and also.. in FOOTBALL .. it should be a TD when the ball crosses the goal line .. but obviously since this league has no replays .. its purely a judgement call and you need a ref with alot of IQ and experience to even look at where the ball and the flag at the sametime during that kind of situation .. there was a play earlier this year where one of our players extended for the goal line .. broke the plane .. but he was called down when his flag was pulled .. cuz naturally the ref will look at where and when the flag was pulled .. so i honesly think that was the right call .. cuz its hard to judge where the ball is at the time of the pulled flag |

This is why I like the idea of ref`ing our own games: 1)we are in better shape 2)the calls get blown anyways 3)no "I am going to get you sucker" retaliation that can follow you for SEASONS (oh, I have seen that first hand many times).
Once again, maybe this is mostly relevant to C league, b/c things do get better as you move along. Hook refs are outstanding for the most part. The shorter guy takes NO CRAP (which is good) and the big dudes are totally mellow. Great combination... |

| TD`s | 08:11 AM |
It`s been clarified in another thread that the Flags have to cross the plane not the ball. Well that`s what the rules are this year. It does kind of make sense. It`s flag so you can`t get tackled so the flag plays more importance.

|
| breaking the plane | 09:15 AM |
only one flag now has to cross. It used to be both. |
|
| HEAD REF | 4:53 PM |
the rule for a touchdown is very simple!!!! USFFA rule book page 36 RULE 8 art 1 IN BOLD IT STATES "FLAGS MUST CROSS". That means BOTH FLAGS MUST CROSS NOT THE BALL. for example if you backed in and the ball was still in the playing area but flags in end zone touchdown! I`m not sure why the C league is so confused about the rules! I will be changing the officials for June 3rd games at BC#1. |

thank you for clarifying the rules for us |
|
| WOW! | 07:45 AM |
Didnt think a ref would respond on a msg board. |
|
| its | 09:00 AM |
probably not a ref. they would have registered their names and it would have said it under their Head Ref. |
