Will their be an all-star game this season? |
|
| No | 1:24 PM |
No. Thread over. |
|
| no need | 2:35 PM |
There is no way the Va teams would be able to match up with the Md teams. Just combining us with the playmakers, Vegas, and a couple Nuts, we would destroy Va. U saw what Vegas did in the B bracket wasn`t even close in the bracket. |
|
| hmm | 2:54 PM |
no need = BB huh?
I`d like to see a VA vs MD All-Star game. |
|
| I wouldn`t | 2:56 PM |
It would be MD players yapping all day, and the VA players winning the game.
Boring. |

We already played the ALL-STAR game....
Wolves won 21-20...
Those 2 teams were loaded with talent! |

Hook it up!! |

Putting together an all-star game is a lot of work on my end of it, because I am not just communicating with teams - but individual players. You don`t want too many nor do you want too few. Managing selection, and then last minute drop outs and fill-ins last year for three teams became a full time job for a few days. I simply do not have the time to do it this year, with Bark Bowl registration opening tomorrow - then Stars & Stripes, then Fall registration opening after that, then planning an August MD Bark Bowl on top of that.
We had planned an A v B, B v C, and C v A last year, but once it was all set, the games were rained out anyway.
I can secure Hook Road field for this Sunday or the next, and if there are coaches/teams out there willing to manage selection and schedule, jersey colors, awards, and coordination with the officials post to this thread. If I can get a coach for A, B & C, I will give each coach the contact info they want for other A, B and C teams. Then I will give one of the coaches the officials contact. Decide among yourselves on the schedule of games, who will pay the officials ($90/game), how you will collect the money, who wears what color etc...
Once all of this is in motion, I`ll secure the field permit for the day of choice.

Ok guys, time to step up. Y`all on here all day anyways. Get together with Scary Larry and figure this out. |

| One weekend game! | 11:29 AM |
This is what I think:
Option 1:
You can use the rankings from the playoff brackets or make a new 1-16 ranking based upon the outcome of the Spring playoffs, i.e. Wolves (1), Bad Boyz (2), Novas, (3), Outlaws (4), etc.
Choose one captain from the two top squads. The captains can be players as well. Split the sixteen teams in half to make two teams:
1,3,5,7,10,12,14,16 v. 2,4,6,8,9,8,13,15
Choose 3 players per team (including captains) from Teams 1 and 2. Choose 2 players per team from teams 3-14. Choose 1 player per team from teams 15 and 16.
This would give us a 16-man roster for both teams.
The captains would be in-charge of the selections being very stratgic in their approach. Making sure they are selecting lineman as well as sklls players. Obviously it would entail getting in-touch with the teams and sorting out the defense/offense from each squad.
But, it can be done.
Do the same for the "B" and "C" league players and take a Saturday or Sunday and play three games!
As far as cost, Tom can work that out!!
Option 2:
MD teams v. VA teams
This would be somewhat of a problem, because MD only have 4 teams. Unless it would be VA`s top four teams v. MD teams.
This isn`t the best, but it can work too. |

What tom is saying WE PAY THE REFS.
|
|
| Suggestion | 11:46 AM |
Tom,
If you could post the player selection rules and the round robin tournament style from last year, that would be a helpful start. That way we won`t have to hear everyone`s opinions and we can just start with last year`s rules. |
|
| A True Observer | 1:07 PM |
I agree with "Suggestion". Even though the "One Weekend Game" didn`t sound bad.
Did you guys have an All-Star Game last year? |
|
| Diesel 7 | 1:36 PM |
There was suppose to be an All-Star game last year but it got rained out.
Tom did a pretty good job coordinating it last year. It`s a lot of work trying to put something like that together so I wouldn`t blame him for not trying this year. He`s doing enough just laying it all out on the table for us to figure out.

All Star game sounds to complicated...
How about a pre-season Fall tourny....
|
|
| To Scarry | 3:38 PM |
Pre-Season tourny sounds too complicated as well. As does the REGULAR SEASON.
Let`s just get to the playoffs already. |

If you could post the player selection rules and the round robin tournament style from last year
We assigned A, B and C all-star coaches (2 coaches per team) based on playoff results and divisions. Then we had all of the league coaches nominate a few players from their team. The all-star coaches reviewed the lists of nominated players and picked 16-20 players for their teams.
The first game was B vs C, then B vs A, with a third game: A vs C.
One team was to wear red, another blue, another white.
So you`ll need 1 or 2 coaches per all-star team (A, B, C) - then put up a post here asking other coaches to email you a few nominated players who are available to play, then take the list and pick out a team from it.
If you get 3 complete teams, and can get them out there this Sunday 6/24 or next Sunday 7/1, and figure out how to pay the refs (who will front the money and then collect from the players on game day) then I will secure a field use permit from 9:00 - 1:00.
I`m telling you, it feels like more work than its worth - but if there are enough motivated players out there maybe they can make it happen? |
