Can defensive players bump WRs at the line of scrimmage, if the bump is before the WR leaves the nuetral zone? Or is there no bump coverage at all?

If I`m correct you can jam up to 5yds.

here`s another7:54 PM

Wolves are famous for running this play where they throw a 3 yard out and he pitches to a RB that lined up deep in the backfield and came around the 8 hole to get it. Basically a short hook and ladder. BUUUT, if you clobber the RB in the backfield before he crosses the l.o.s. its perfectly legal. Always hit the RB coming out of the backfield. That`ll be $10.

Feel free to level the running back on an option play before the pitch, also, so long as it`s in the backfield. One of those early may be enough to put a little hesitation in the option, even if you sacrifice some qb yards the first time.

This is gonna be great. Teams are now going to focus on trying to hit the RB`s in the backfield so much that they will take themselves out of the play and make it EASIER for the offense.

Unless the rules have been changed the previous two posts are correct. In fact, a team (Antioch) used to run the option all game. Eventually a team realized these rules, and started KILLING the RB. Antioch, the team, was out of the league within a few months. Changed the league a little bit.

As long as the RB (without the ball of course) is between the defensive player and the QB and in the backfield he is considered a blocker and can be rushed just like a lineman. You cannot run past the QB just to hit the RB.z Same goes for the QB - if he pitches the ball back on an option and is then between a defensive player and the ball carrier & behind the line of scrimmage, he is considered a blocker.

Thanks for the clarification10:01 PM

What are the odds all the refs know this?

Slim.

To none.
