You take top 2 teams in each division take 3 players off each team giving you a total of 18 players.Take top 6 teams in MD taking 3 players per team you have your all-star game.

The whole point of an all-star game is to get the best players together from every team. Teams that don`t finish in the top-2 have good players too. Pointless to even have an "all-star" game if that`s the format.

some of the best players are often on very poor teams and just lack the help, just like the nfl or nba...take barry sanders for instance
