how are the grasshoppers (4-0-2) seeded over team beer (5-1). the formula for winning percentage is:
Number of Wins ÷ W+L+T
this means
Grasshoppers-
4 wins, 0 losses, 2 ties = 6 games
4÷6= 0.666 Winning Percentage
Team Beer-
5 wins, 1 loss, 0 ties = 6 games
5÷6= 0.833 Winning Percentage
please explain to me why the winning percentage for the grasshoppers is listed as .833 and they were given the #1 seed and the first round bye? |

A tie counts for half a win (and half a loss). We`ve done it this way forever. The NFL also calculates the same way.
So, 4-0-2 = 5-1, Grasshoppers take the head to head. |

im confused...so a team thats 2-0-4 is the same as a 4-2 team? even tho they have half of the wins? that defies logic. the team with the loss has a better winning percentage, isnt winning percentage usually determined by `winning` not tying twice to make a win? |

Yep.
The method of determining won-lost percentage in standings changed. Tie games, previously not counted in the standings, were made equal to a half-game won and a half-game lost, May 24.

were using nfl rules for flag football? they have 3 times the number of games and use overtime to reslove ties. that rule is meant to determine the difference bewtween a 12-4 team and a 12-3-1 team. im sure there is something else in the nfl rules stating a team with more wins (meaning you actually beat more teams) is considered the higher seed when you have played the same number of games |
